Chapter 759 - The Question On Everyones Mind
Chapter 759 - The Question On Everyone's Mind
The belly of any animal was its weak spot so they would protect it with all their might.
Therefore, the fact that this little girl was able to touch that fox's belly without having her hand bitten off was enough for them to discern that the fox felt safe with her.
"Miss Aleena and Miss Rika, this is Young Master Topher's etcher, Rouge." She introduced the cute fox to the girls she was acquainted with.
They had heard about etchers and even seen a few of their brothers and fathers had one of their own.
However, they had never come in such close contact with an etcher before today.
The etchers were territorial and would never allow anyone other than their master to get close to them.
The girls too had never expressed any desires to get close to one and had only seen them from afar.
Therefore, when they saw a big red fox staring right in their direction upon arriving here, they were scared out of their wits.
None of them had ever seen Topher's etcher before which also contributed to the fact that they were screaming to be saved from a vicious fox that had appeared out of nowhere.
However, Yvonne was different from the rest as she had an etcher of her own.
While this fact was still a well-kept secret, the others had just assumed that she had met Rouge many times in the past which allowed her to be fearless in the fox's presence.
This also signified the close relationship between the St. Claire and the Tanner family.
Thanks to this, the girl was able to meet the etcher on numerous occasions, enough for them to be comfortable with each other to this extent.
While Yvonne was playing with that 'vicious' fox, the ladies had each rushed towards their children to check on them.
Even if they favored boys over girls, these were still their precious children so the mothers could not help but be anxious when they saw the tears in their eyes.
Raylene, Trisha, and Duchess Tanner were the only ones who had not moved from their places and had their eyes fixed on the little girl.
Yvonne had wanted to show that Rouge wasn't a scary animal and hence had gone ahead to play with her.
However, Demon was jealous the moment he sensed Rouge's aura near his Master.
'He must be sulking at home.' She surmised as she had closed communication before he could complete speaking earlier.
After all, the men were so close to her position and any one of them could have sensed an aura coming from her.
Thus she had no choice but to snub her etcher for the sake of keeping his presence a secret for much longer.
The men had indeed sensed an aura but it had been too faint for them, making them assume that it was the etcher present here whose aura they sensed for that split second.
Those who knew of Demon's existence were sure that it was the huge horse whose aura they detected but as always, remained mum about it.
By now, Rouge was back on her feet and was looking right into the Duke's eyes.
For those who knew a little about etchers could decipher that the two were conversing through the link between them.
'I've never met the Duke's etcher.' Yvonne realized while watching this scene just a step away from them.
Currently, Rouge was explaining to her master's father that she had left her designated area and came this way to greet her master.
'Please do not blame my Master, Master's father.' The sensible fox pleaded for Topher which made his heart bloom with love for his lovely etcher.
Yvonne and the rest could not hear what was being said as it was between the father, son, and also their etchers thus could only speculate what was being discussed.
Once they were done, Duke Tanner shot a warning glance at his son before turning his gaze towards the girl next to the etcher who had caused a commotion earlier.
"How is Miss St. Claire so close to Rouge?" He asked the question which was on everyone's mind.
The little girls had finally calmed down after being coaxed by their mothers and the men standing on the other side also fixed their gaze on Yvonne, eager to hear what she had to say in response.
Etchers would never get close to anyone they had just met so it was without a doubt that the two must have come in contact a few times in the past.
Therefore, they waited in silence to hear how Rouge and Yvonne St. Claire seemed to have gotten acquainted with each other.
Duke Tanner could think of only one incident where this could have taken place.
The little girl had come to visit them in the past where she had been introduced to the etcher but he could not recall a second incident after that.
This was because Yvonne had met Rouge only a handful of times but those interactions had been meaningful to them both.
Rouge's visit to the St. Claire estate where she met Demon was also kept a secret from the Duke and Duchess.
After all, they too still had no idea about Yvonne's awakening and her etcher.
Thus, the Duke's doubts about the closeness of those two were understandable.
Everyone who had met Demon had succeeded in keeping his existence a secret from others which was also what Rouge and Topher had done.
Therefore, even now, they did not reveal that meeting Demon and forming a mental link between the two etchers had only strengthened the bond between Yvonne and Rouge.
"We only met a few times but Rouge is so adorable that she makes me want to play with her every time." She explained with childlike innocence which made the adults smile.
Duke Tanner felt something amiss but thinking of his wife who also gushes every time she sees that cute fox, he could only nod in acceptance of that answer.
The girls who had been screaming earlier had all regained their composure in the short while that Yvonne and Duke Tanner were conversing.
"Will she bite us?" Isadora Carter muttered her query while gawking at that red fox whom Miss Yvonne had called Rouge.
As though the fox had understood what was being said, she shook her head in reply while looking right at the little girl.
Being the youngest child of the Carter family, Isadora was timid by nature and always remained silent.
The eldest sister, Jasmine was the cheerful one, the middle sister, Fiona was the defiant one, while she was the suppressed and silent one.
When she spoke, only a few had heard her soft murmurs and before any of the adults could even reply, the fox had answered the question that was pertaining to her.
This made Isadora and even a few others widen their eyes in both shock and admiration.
"She understood what you said!" Rika, who was the same age as Isadora, exclaimed in an excited tone.
In their family, only their eldest brother had found his etcher among the three sons but he was always away so Rika and Aleena had never gotten the chance to interact with one at such a close distance.
Just like them, the rest of the girls too were excited and in no time, were asking Rouge questions to which the red fox replied happily.
'Rouge became famous in no time.' Yvonne chuckled at this amusing sight.
Just moments ago, they were screaming loud enough to hurt her ears but they shifted their attitudes in no time.
Her goal of demonstrating that Rouge would not harm them was achieved so she chose to stand with her father who was nearby and let those girls interact with the etcher.
Rutherford patted her head when she reached him, then he too displayed a rare smile at the pleasant atmosphere that had formed here.
'Your etcher has too many admirers.' Damien snickered as he shot a glance at his best friend.
'Wait till they meet yours.' Topher rolled his eyes before looking back at his etcher, ignoring the scoff he heard in reply.
However, he could not deny that statement when so many little girls were talking about visiting the Tanner estate again to meet the red fox.
In the past few days, Rouge had been training along with him as they tried to push their limits together to reach greater heights.
One of the reasons for this was the match he had with Yvonne where Demon had lent his aura in the very end.
Topher could still recall how violently he had been pushed away which only strengthened his resolve to work harder and build up his own powers.
Thus ever since he had returned from the St. Claire mansion that day, Taylor was busy training under his guidance while he and Rouge would also train seriously just a little away from him.
This also explained why Rouge had grown bigger in just a few days since she had last met Yvonne.
The stronger she got, the greater the chances of growing to her full potential which was exactly what had taken place.
Yvonne too had noticed this growth spurt but did not know what might have caused it.
The last time Rouge had come to meet her, she was just a little larger than Fryght who resembled a pup.
However, right now, she was able to understand why those girls had screamed at the sight of the red fox.
It took her a moment to notice this but Rouge was almost twice the size of Fryght now.
'Her head reached my upper arm.' Yvonne was surprised when she realized how big Rouge had gotten.
'No wonder they screamed..' She grimaced, imagining how she would react if she suddenly saw a wild beast almost as big as her out of nowhere.
