Chapter 758 - Forgetting Their Etiquettes
Chapter 758 - Forgetting Their Etiquettes
Glennise had thought of showing that the lessons meant for girls of Yvonne's age were easy and weren't as troublesome as she had made it sound.
However, the retort she had received had ruined what she had planned to prove.
"I see," Glennise responded without trying to argue any further.
It was obvious that the Duke's son would not side with her if a confrontation took place so she chose to stand down for now.
However, her clenched fists confirmed that she wasn't satisfied with this outcome in the least bit.
As though to save her from the embarrassment she had just endured, a maid walked into the playhouse to announce that the adults had returned.
This statement revealed that they could head back home now so they all nodded their heads.
The atmosphere here had turned awkward after Yvonne's retort so they hoped to escape at the earliest.
Yvonne too was pleased to hear this news so she did not bother to stay here any longer and only turned towards her brothers with a glimmer of eagerness visible in her amethyst eyes.
Taylor and Howard assumed that she wanted to get away from Glennise Brodie and without delay, they agreed with her decision.
With the Duke's son leading the way, the children once again made their way towards the same place where the tea party had been held.
Yvonne walked with Taylor and Howard on either side of her while right behind her were Aleena, Rika, and Glennise.
The three Carter sisters came next and finally, Cecily and Elna were at the end of this long line with the maids walking behind them.
Glennise was still walking with her head held high, appearing to have regained her composure which brought a smile to Rika's face.
Aleena pretended to not have seen anything and only kept walking next to her little sister while the three Carter sisters seemed to have divided into two factions.
The eldest, Jasmine was being ostracized by the younger ones, Fiona and Isadora who were maintaining a distance from her.
Anyone with discerning eyes could tell that it was because Jasmine had mingled with Cecily so now her sisters were mad at her, as they should be.
At the end of the line, Elna was found glaring at the girl who had even dared to talk back to the daughter of Duke Brodie before sneering at Taylor.
'He doesn't have eyes!' She cursed him for falling into the trap of that girl and even supporting her in the conflict that had just taken place.
However, Elna was wrong to think in this way because Taylor had never stepped into the argument between the girls.
Yvonne was the one who had dealt with it, using her own strengths to her advantage and Taylor only stood at the side without uttering a word.
He might be dissatisfied with what had taken place but all he did was frown while watching in silence.
Thus Elna's displeasure with Taylor was uncalled for but she would never realize this fact and continued to believe that she was right in thinking so.
While each was in their own thoughts, the group had finally reached their destination.
Yvonne's lips curved into a smile at the sight she was welcomed with.
However, the rest of the girls with her did not appreciate this sight as much as she had.
Out of nowhere, the screams of fear and terror coming from behind echoed in the surroundings.
This was enough to reveal what they truly thought of what they had just seen.
The men had been at a distance away from the children and hence were troubled to hear so many screams coming from a certain direction.
Little girls had squeaky high-pitched voices which made their screams more shrill, invoking the protective instincts of men in their surroundings.
In no time, not only the men but the women too had rushed over to see what had taken place for their daughters to scream in such an unbecoming manner.
Duchess Tanner had been leading the women with her from the greenhouse and they were a short distance away from their destination when they heard these screams.
Raylene was worried about her daughter and so were the rest of the women here.
However, only a few were genuinely concerned about the safety of their child while the rest were worried that their daughters were forgetting their etiquettes.
Meanwhile, the men were the first to reach the place from where the screams were heard and soon were filled with confusion at the sight they witnessed.
___
A few moments ago,
When Yvonne and the rest had reached this area, she had seen her father and the other men standing on the other side of the training ground that had been used as the venue for the tea party.
She could not find her mother or the other women which made her assume that they had not yet arrived.
Her eyes then turned towards the small group of older boys who were already here and were closer to their position.
However, the smile that had formed on Yvonne's lips wasn't for these boys but the one who was standing next to them.
Taylor rolled his eyes but Howard was excited and his feet hastened to reach Topher and the rest.
Yvonne was a step behind Howard and was walking with Taylor when those shrill screams of fear had echoed in her ear.
Whiplashing to turn around, she saw the girls huddled together, holding each other for dear life.
Some had their eyes shut while the others were staring in a certain direction with trembling eyes as tears started pooling in them.
Yvonne was startled by their scream and it took her a second before she could turn in the same direction they were gazing in a daze.
The cause of her smile earlier was also the reason for their heart-wrenching screams.
The older boys were the closest to them and were stumped on what to do as they had never experienced so many girls screaming and crying at once.
These girls always maintained decorum but right now, they could care less about any of that as they were scared out of their minds.
Taylor was baffled and did not know what to do so he turned to the only child who was calm right now.
Yvonne felt his pleading eyes and gave him a nod as these girls were his responsibility and he might get scolded if something were to go wrong.
"Please calm down! She won't hurt you!" She yelled, attempting to be louder than their panicked screams.
It was a good thing that fear had caused them to lose feeling in their legs or the others might have seen them running away in haste which would have been even more embarrassing for them later on.
Yvonne could never be louder than a bunch of screaming girls so she decided to try something else.
Turning around, she hurried in a certain direction which caused those girls to scream even louder.
Wincing at the painful sensation now arising in her ear, she stretched her hand out towards the one who had caused them to scream.
'Master!' She could hear Demon's displeased voice but she could only cut off their communication in that very instant.
___
The men had appeared the moment Yvonne had stretched her hand out in a certain direction.
The rest of the men had troubled eyes while looking at this scene just like the girls but a few of them had already regained their calm.
Rutherford patted his thumping chest when he saw that his precious child was fine and there was nothing wrong with her.
In the same way, Duke Tanner was frightened that something might have happened to the girls but observing this scene, he knew that they were just startled.
"You should have kept her inside." He reprimanded his heir who was the root of this mess.
Topher choked then nodded even when there was no fault of his in this matter.
When the ladies reached them, the girls had already quietened down.
Maybe it was the sense of security they gained after seeing their parents near them or the sight they were now focusing on, either way, they had now calmed down.
Everyone who had arrived was now gawking at the scary yet marvelous sight before them.
With awe, they watched how the daughter of Earl St. Claire gave a big red fox a belly rub and by the looks of it, that beast seemed to be enjoying it thoroughly.
"How could they be scared of you, Rouge?" Yvonne grumbled while continuing to scratch the soft belly of the beautiful beast before her.
