Chapter 172 - Hurry Up!
It was a sunny Monday morning.
Laura awakened from her sleep at 8:00.
She was able to sleep well for three nights in a row because Luke visited his plantations and was gone for three days already.
Ever since she tolerated his advances and obeyed his commands, she was given more freedom to roam around the house. Luke starts trusting her.
She learned from the servants' conversation that the name of the town was Arrawalle Town and the next town's name is Katabilla Town. She didn't know about this town, it must be far away from Hallowpass because she didn't hear that a town with such a name exists.
Or maybe she isn't well-traveled enough and stays only in their town most of her adult life that's why she had no idea that this town exists.
She put her right hand on her stomach.
Her baby bump is already more than two months old, not that big yet but it's already noticeable. But her bump didn't hinder Luke's insane appetite for sex. He would always sleep in her bedroom and would penetrate her between her legs every night.
She released a deep sigh. Maybe he would stop or slow down with his carnal desire if her tummy gets bigger.
Sighing, she gets up from the bed and went to the bathroom to relieve herself.
A few minutes later.
She exited the bathroom and went to the dresser to brush her hair.
She looked at her reflection in the mirror and released a deep sigh. She's wondering if her husband spends time finding her at all knowing that he was also busy finding the missing Rebecca.
What happened to Rebecca now?
She hoped and pray that she's somewhere safe.
A gentle knock on the door broke her reverie.
"Yes, what is it?" she asked.
"It's me, Adela...my lady."
She opened the door. The servant's smiling face greeted her.
"Good morning, my lady!" Adela said. "Do you want me to bring your breakfast here in your room or do you want to eat in the dining room?"
"I will eat breakfast in the dining room. I'll go down in a minute," she replied.
"Okay. I'll take my leave now to prepare your food in the dining room," Adela said and left the room.
Laura closed the door and returned to the dresser table to continue brushing her hair.
She put her hair in a ponytail, went to the closet and picked up a maternity dress, then donned it on her body.
Done, she walked towards the door and exited the room. She walked into the hallway, descended the stairs slowly, then proceed to the dining room located beside the kitchen.
When she entered the dining room, Adela just finished arranging the dishes on the table.
She settled on the chair and looked at the servant. "Have you eaten your breakfast already?" she asked.
"Not yet, my lady," Adela answered.
"Good. Bring your plate here so that you will accompany me in eating my breakfast," she ordered.
"No...no...I can't do that, my lady. The servant and the Lord's wife must not eat together in the dining room," Adela refused politely.
Laura sighed. "Common, don't be shy, it's just you and me. I won't eat unless you will eat together with me," she said.
Finally, Adela relented. She exited the dining room and returned a minute later carrying an extra plate, fork, and spoon.
The two women began eating their meal in comfortable silence.
After they finished their meal.
"My lady, do you want to go to the garden?" Adela asked.
"Yes. I want to do some walking around that area while the sun is not hot yet," she replied.
"Okay, I'll accompany you there," Adela said.
The two women left the room while another servant entered the dining room to clean the table and take away the dirty dishes.
In the garden.
Laura walked around the paths of the garden, while Adela watched her lady a few meters away.
One hour later.
Laura got tired and decided to go back to the house and returned to her room since the sun was already getting hotter on her skin.
Adela accompanied her lady upstairs to her room.
Inside the room.
"My lady, should I bring you now the herbal supplement for the baby?" Adela asked.
"Yes, please..." Laura replied.
Adela exited the room going back downstairs to get the brew.
Laura went inside the bathroom for a quick bath, to get rid of the sweats on her body
Fifteen minutes later, she exited the bathroom after taking a refreshing bath.
She was toweling her hair when Adela returned to the room and brought a glass of the brewed herbal supplement. The servant put the glass on the table. "Here's your drink, my lady," she said.
"Thank you," Laura said and drinks the brew in one go, it tastes sweet because it was mixed with honey.
Adela picked up the empty glass. "Anything else, my lady before I'll take my leave?"
"No more," Laura replied.
"When lunchtime comes, do you still want to eat in the dining room?" Adela asked.
"Yes..."
"Okay, I'll take my leave now," Adela said and left the room.
Laura went to the bed and sat on the edge. She picked up the book from the side table and continue reading where she left off. The book was given to her by Luke, it was left behind in the study room by the previous owner of the house along with other ten discarded books.
Hours went by.
Lunchtime comes.
Laura and Adela ate lunch together in the dining room.
After lunch, Laura went back to the garden and sat on the wooden chair, admiring the blooming flowers in front of her. The chair was especially stationed under the shade of the tree protecting her from the sun rays.
On the table was a pitcher of lemonade to quench her thirst and a plate of assorted biscuits and glass.
Two hours later.
She had enough of the garden. She gets back inside the house, climbed the stairs, and went back to her room to take her afternoon nap.
Hours went by.
...
That night.
Graven visited Katabilla Town which is next to Arrawalle Town. If he can't still locate his wife and Rebbecca's scent in this town, he will go to the next town.
The sky is dark because the moon is nowhere in sight and the stars are hiding behind the clouds.
He was hovering in the air in his invisible form. He opened the bottle containing the powder, poured some on the cap, and began spreading it across the town.
A few minutes later.
He was done scattering the powder...
He remained in the air for a few seconds... then starts hovering into the different places of the town to locate his wife's scent.
He was disappointed because he can't detect his wife's scent or Rebecca's scent in the Katabilla Town even aided by the magical powder.
But he was also aware that maybe Laura and Rebecca are not in this town. There are still many towns to check, a long way to go for him.
Sighing...he floated further south...
He's now hovering in the air in the boundary between Katabilla Town and Arrawalle Town.
Should he continue finding his wife and Rebecca in the next town or just go home, take a rest and continue tomorrow?
Which is which?
He was pondering about her next move when Laura's scent drifted in his nostrils. Wow! It comes so strong!
He zoomed towards the direction of the strong scent.
It originated in a dilapidated and abandoned mansion surrounded by towering trees.
He hovered down and entered through the broken window.
The inside of the house was silently eerie...
He checked the rooms on the ground floor about six of them, they have a musty smell on them, pieces of stuff were scattered on the floor, the rooms were abandoned for a long time.
He finished checking out the rooms, no human presence can be found.
But where is Laura?
He can smell her scent... it's getting stronger in his nostrils.
He exited the room, hovered upstairs on the second floor, and continue his investigations in the other rooms.
In the last room of the hallway is where Laura's scent was getting stronger.
He entered the room excitedly. And there... finally... lying on the bed, his beloved wife sleeping on the bed... both her hands and feet bound by shackles.
He bolted to her side and waked her up. "Wife...it's me...your husband!" he said.
Laura opened her eyes and stared at her husband for a few minutes, squinting against the darkness. There's only one candle giving light to the room and it's currently fading away. "W-who are you?"
"It's me Graven your husband!" he repeated.
Laura beamed in happiness and embraced her husband tightly. "Thank God, you finally come to save me! Hurry, get me out of here before they come back!" she cried in fear and urgency.
Graven released flames in his fingers and burned the chains and shackles on his wife's hands and feet.
Laura was finally freed. "Let's get out of here!" She bolted towards the door.
Graven grabbed his wife's hand. "Let's just teleport ourselves back to the Bay Meadow!" he said.
He closed his eyes and initiated the teleportation process in his mind.
The two of them teleported not in the Bay Meadow... but another place.
When the couple opened their eyes, they found themselves inside a cave!
"What the hell?! Where is this place?" Graven asked in bewilderment. He roamed his eyes around the area. He made sure Bay Meadow was their destination... not this place! Did he make a mistake teleporting for the first time? But he never did!
He looked at his wife standing beside him, shivering in the coldness of the cave with her thin clothes. He took off his black cloak and wrapped it around his wife's body making her warm. "Don't worry, I'll find a way out of this cave!" he said.
"Husband, let's find the mouth of the cave and leave this place!" Laura suggested.
"Okay, but let me try again. I'll try teleporting ourselves back to the Bay Meadow," Graven responded. He grasped his wife's hand firmly and closed his eyes.
Laura shut her eyes as well, a mischievous smirk curled up on her lips.
