The Devil's Sweetheart

Tapping her heels on the car's carpet vigorously, Leena would peek outside the windows intermittently, anticipating Devin's arrival. Did that Nick vomit everything to Devin? Obviously, he would have. The proof was evident in the form of Devin's rage when she looked into his eyes. He will definitely get mad for not confessing the truth. Seconds turned minutes, and Leena still didnot hear the vibrations of certain footsteps. At last, what felt like an eternity, the back seat door opened, and the atmosphere turned more aloof in the car as he sat next to her.

''To home,'' Ordered Devin to the driver, in his gruff tones. ''Turn off the AC.'' He then slid the windows to let the air inside. 

Although Devin didnot talk or turned his attention to her, Leena's stomach filled with butterflies. Despite his anger, Devin didnot forget she has motion sickness. Neither of them spoke to each other, and right after the car came to a halt when they reached home, Leena got down and sped inside the house like a deer.

''What's with that speed of hers?'' Devin complained as he stepped out of the car. She is behaving as if she has seen a monster.

''I told you..you scared her earlier,'' Nick added.

''And she scares me every day. Did I ever complain?'' Devin retorted. Did she really get scared of me? He was a little harsh, but that was only for a while.

As Nick and Devin walked into the house, Aunt Jalapeno twisted her lips at Devin and Nick for intruding on her personal space in the daytime. ''Why did you come early today?'' She asked in an irritated voice. 

''For house inspection,'' Devin said and headed to the room.

''Always watching those cheek videos. Why does she like butts?'' Nick muttered as he saw her sitting on the couch with a popcorn bucket on her lap, watching beach videos where couples were dancing, barely wearing anything.

''I heard you, goose fellow.'' Aunt Jalapeno winked at Nick. ''If you are jealous, you can give me live entertainment. I am ready to watch,''

Nick's mouth pinched shut as though holding back what he wanted to say. She has no shame at all. No wonder her husband ran away from her. In the end, he made his way back to the room.

When Devin opened the bedroom door and stepped in, he saw Leena on the bed, staring at her nails with no expression on her face. She looked so cute with her blank expression; Devin thought, even if she kills him, it's worth it. Without uttering a word, Devin went into the walk-in closet. With nothing to do, he was inspecting the closets to see if Leena had brought dresses again, he felt a gentle tug on his shirt.

He briefly looked at her and then turned back. ''Don't talk with me.'' replied as he pretended to work. ''You seem to be extensively spoiled by me, and now have become highly selfish, caring only about your feelings and emotions. Why will you consider my feelings...''

His next words automatically seized when a lithe body swiftly crashed onto his back, showering her love through a tight back hug. ''I am sorry for hurting you. .I couldn't have imagined hurting you this much. I am sorry, Devin, I am sorry, I am the reason you are sad. Your feelings mean the world to me. I know it was childish to give the cold shoulder to you, and I regret it. Please talk with me. I can't bear to see us fighting like this.''

Both were hurt, and both were on the verge of breaking, but the presence of each other made them stay still and hold together. Devin loosened himself, and when he turned back, a lump formed in his throat, seeing Leena's red eyes. 

Cupping her face very tenderly, he kissed her eyes, the orbs which hide the shades of beauty like a rainbow. ''I don't know what all you heard from that woman, but remember one thing, Sweetheart; I will never quit loving you in a way I know I never will. With or without memories, you are the only one forever and always for me. I can never forget the girl who touched my soul, and it can never be any girl other than you, Leena'' In the past, Wilbur and Ethan once confronted him about him loving a girl. Still, he refused to believe he had loved any other person before Leena crashed into his life. The moment he saw her, he knew she is the only one he has been searching for all his life.

Leena jerked Devin's hand on her face and embraced her hands tightly over him. ''I am sorry. I will never doubt you or our love. Even if that woman comes, I am not giving you away, even if your memories come back.''

''If my memories are worrying you, I promise I will never look for them, Leena.'' He kissed the back of her head and patted her back.

''Don't force yourself. If it meant to happen, it will,'' Leena said, as she further pushed herself towards his body, leaving no space between them.

Her blood bubbled like boiled water when she thought Devin made love to that bully. Did they do it, or she lied to provoke me? Whatever! She doesn't care anymore. Devin is hers, and she will not give him away without any fight. Leena decided to find that bully's address and teach her a lesson. ''Devin, can I ask you a question?'' She remembered Morvena talking about Devin being a famous photographer. 

''You already asked one.'' He lifted her chin in a teasing way.

''Very funny.'' Her smile made his heart skip a beat. ''Never let that smile slip away from your face.''

Leena smiled in response and nodded her head. ''Now, back to the question.'' She asked. ''Are you a very famous photographer? I know you take the best shots but thought it was only your hobby.''

''If I compare to the discordant pictures you take, then maybe I am considered famous.'' Teasing Leena and watching her crumpled face can make his day anytime.

Ignoring his blatant comments, Leena questioned again. ''Quickly tell me the social media account profile you have. You seem to be very mysterious.'' 

''Nothing comes for free, Sweetheart.'' Nuzzling his nose against hers, he said. ''Perhaps if you tell your favorite photographer's name, I will consider telling mine.''

''Don't forget I am a hacker. Just because you are my husband, I am going easy on you.'' She said. 

''Let's make a deal then.'' Having said that, he pushed Leena upwards, lifted her, and carried her to the bedroom. Gingerly placing her on the bed, he said. ''If you find my name within two days without using illegal means, I will give a_''

''Sumer collection dresses from my favorite brands,'' Leena completed without leaving room for negotiations. ''Say yes.'' He has restricted buying dresses with his usual nagging. She has to try other means atleast.

''Deal.'' Devin gave a double thumbs up. Never will she leave her obsession over dresses, will she? He has got a trick to find the person's name in seconds. Just that he needs to distract her for a while. Putting the dirty thought aside, Devin said.. ''I didnot inform you before. I am going on a business trip tonight_''

''No!'' Leena flared from her bed, her voice raised an octave. ''I will not let you go alone.'' The memories of his accident are still livid in her memory. She will not let history repeat. Those pale eyes and her cries which she doesn't want to happen anytime. He was on the verge of life and death and it was lucky that Devin passed that stage. 

''Listen, Sweetheart. I am taking Nick along with me. Nothing_''

''Devin..please..I am scared. Please take me_''

''I promise, I will be extra careful this time. You have to take care of Savny also,'' He assured her. He cannot take Leena to that woman. He has to talk with her alone, and give a clear warning to her. With lots of coaxing, Leena finally agreed, giving additional instructions to Nick to keep Devin safe, especially women.

It was a bright morning as the woman in the bed woke up. She stretched her body, and just then, a woman in a uniform entered into her room and bowed her head. ''Did you feed breakfast to Winter?'' Morvena asked in effluent Russian.

''Yes, Madam.'' The maid informed in Russian. With his madam's care, the girl is doing well. Such a god's gift to cure any patients will not come to anyone.

As Morvena got up, she received a call from the WatchGuard.. Her heart drummed in fear as he heard the news. No! It can't happen! Why is he here? Did Leena tell everything, and Devin is here to take revenge or his memories come back, and he is here to talk to her?
