The Devil's Sweetheart

The top floor was emptied in a minute, with only four prominent people and the group of guards standing a little away from them. Leena felt like rattled in a cage. The timing has matched aptly. Fighting with her dear husband yesterday, crossing paths with her mysterious friend in the morning, and finally getting caught by her husband. Is this going to create another misunderstanding between Devin and me? Leena worriedly thought to herself. She didnot want to fight with him yesterday, but her instincts took over, and the fight happened. She was thinking of making his favorite dish to curb his anger, but again another bar.

On the other hand, Enger's face grew hot and pinched with resentment as he met Devin's chilling eyes. When the moment has come finally to express his feelings, this bastard has come and meddled in his affairs. He has waited for this moment for so long to confess the deep feelings he has hidden for Leena since his childhood, but he has interrupted in the last minute.

Enger was damn sure Leena would be pissed off with yesterday's incident and thought she would have fought with Devin. Although it angered Enger that Morvena spilled a little about Devin's past to Leena, he later gave a deep thought about it and realized he doesn't need to fear because Devin would never regain his lost memories. 

Enger peeked at Leena, and as if he was thin air, she is not even looking in his direction, which irked him to his kernels. How many misunderstandings he has to create to make this girl leave Devin, and make her look at him only with the utmost devotion.

Leena slowly lifted her head and met Devin's eyes, studying her every move intently without uttering a word. Devin's gaze was frightening her. Never he looked at her with such an intent gaze. Every time she looks into his eyes, she finds kindness and love for her, but today she sees a different side of him. 

Is this calm before the storm? The next second it proved her right when his voice frenziedly raised beyond the scale. ''Nick, take Leena out of this place, right now!'' He is not angry at Leena. He knows Leena would never cheat on him, but she is putting her guards down when Enger is scaring him around.

Leena pursed her lips. Devin misunderstood! Putting aside her ego, Leena got up and hurriedly sprinted towards Devin. In a hasty tone, she spoke up; her words stuttered as his cold eyes made her cringe in fear. ''We met accidentally_''

''Are you supporting him?'' He interrupted spitefully. He knows Leena didnot intend to meet with Enger purposefully, but his anger best took him.

''Are you doubting her?'' Enger questioned, butting in the middle. 

Without giving a damn to his words, Devin shifted his attention to his wife, his eyes as dark as the grave ''Go, and sit in the car if you don't want to bring the worst in me.'' Leena's heart pounded with the effrontery in his voice, gravel enough to penetrate the deepest part of her soul. The first time she heard his impudence voice was when he took her to his witch grandmother's palace, and never she expected today would be her turn. Those cold eyes she never wanted to see are hurting her. Leena felt in desperate need of water to quench her burning throat. 

With his one piercing gaze at the guards, they moved forward towards Leena. Pressing her lips together, Leena let them escort her. She didnot even spare a glance at Devin. All Leena was concerned about was Devin's rage. She could have thrown tantrums at Devin for ordering her, but something in her warned her not to mess with the beast today. He is on a hunt today.

The moment Leena was out of his sight, his attention now entirely shifted to the man. ''This is my final warning. Stop following my wife.'' The time has come to put a stop to this man's acts. 

''We merely crossed paths, and you misunderstood.'' Enger retorted with a fabricated smile. ''Please don't keep a tight restriction on Leena. It's not good for your relationship. She might run away also.''

''I appreciate your suggestion.'' Devin offered a smile, sitting on the chair cross-legged hovered over with a lazy look on his face. ''But if stalkers like you keep following my wife, I am left with no choice.'' He shrugged a matter of factly and looked at Enger to find any traces of hesitation.

''You are quite funny, Mr. Wang.'' Enger chuckled. ''What made you think of me as a stalker.'' How did he make a guess? He has been hiding everything perfectly.

Devin flicked his fingers, and the next second, a couple of letters were in front of Enger. Although Enger was taken back by this sudden revelation, he quickly composed himself. ''What are these?'' He asked, glancing at the letters.

''The recent letters you delivered to my office. I am surprised you can't identify your own handwriting?'' Devin questioned. 

''Probably you are mistaken. It's not me_''

''Hiding your real identity..hiring agents to deliver the letters..Assassination attempt on me...You have managed quite well..but..'' Devin paused his words as he picked the letter and sniffed it. ''You have left me with this clue accidentally.'' He lifted the paper in front of his eyes. ''You failed to camouflage the smell of chemicals which I can still smell on your body..just like now.''

Enger silently cursed under his breath. How did he miss this part? He was experimenting in the lab and hastily arrived to meet Leena. ''Have you known all along, or you are making a guess?'' If Devin knows, so be it.

''Does that makes any difference?'' Devin retorted.

''Well, Good that you have found out sooner." Enger stretched his hands as if a huge burden is lifted. ''Let me make myself clear. You should have understood my caliber with the assassination attempt I made on you. That is only a sample of what I can do.''

When Devin didnot speak a word, Enger continued thinking that Devin is listening. ''What did you say? Stop following Leena? She is my love. I have loved her ever since I have known my childhood. She is my only love. Death would be the only way to stop me away from Leena.'' Enger paused, taking notice of Devin's calm expressions. ''You don't have any proof to tell Leena that I am the one sending her letters. Slowly, I will take her away, and by that time, I will make sure Leena doesn't feel anything for you. I will go to any extent to take Leena from you. Right now, you can relax. The game has only started now_''

''Correction! I haven't yet started the game.'' Devin lazily chuckled as if not bothered by Enger's threats.''You started the game. I will end it with a war. Be prepared.'' With that, Devin got up, and strolled out of place. He is not going to tell Leena about Enger anymore. Let her find the real mask of this man. Devin's instincts were telling Leena will soon discover Enger's true nature.

Nick was sweating buckets as he recalled the conversation between the two men. Two people are ready to declare war for Leena and can go to any extent to get Leena by their side! She is literally something. What charm did she put on these two?

As Devin was heading out, Nick rushed to catch Devin and hastily spoke. ''Why did you talk harshly with Leena?'' Her hurt expressions are still vivid in his memory. When it comes to matters of Devin, she is a real sensitive girl.

''Sometimes she needs a little taming. I have spoiled her a lot.'' Devin added. Such a big thing happened in the park, and she kept it to herself. If they prolong the misunderstanding, it would have led to a big catastrophe in their lives.

 ''Home or office?'' Nick interrupted Devin's thoughts.

''Home.'' Replied Devin. He has to settle the matter with Leena as soon as possible. A little ago, he called Nick to ask if Leena had her breakfast, and one thing led to another. Finally, Nick spilled everything.

He was glad Nick confessed everything that happened in the park. But, just because a random woman has come and claimed her husband as her first love, Leena listened and suspected his loyalty. Stupid girl. Where did she keep her brain?

''Did you find where that woman is,'' Devin asked. The root cause of the problem. If she were not Leena's doctor and saved her life, he would have thrown her in the dungeon by now.

''Yeah. She is currently in Russia.'' Nick said. Yesterday she was in New York, and after creating a hurdle between the couple, she fled away as if nothing happened? Weird woman!

''Prepare the plane then,'' Devin said.

''Why?'' Nick questioned curiously.

''We are going to Russia tonight,'' Devin replied. Time to put that woman in the place.. She has made his sweetheart cry, and by no means will he let it go.
