Chapter 139: Compromising Position

Chapter 139: Compromising Position

Kace awoke to the feeling of soft sheets rubbing against his naked skin. 'Ugh, what happened?' His body was aching, especially his right arm. Suddenly panic set in. He hurriedly drew his arm out from beneath the sheets and placed it before his eyes. He scrutinised it for several minutes before breathing out a sigh of relief.

His skin was soft and smooth, more importantly, it was human. His head felt fuzzy as he tried to remember what had happened. 'Hey, Sylvan, what happened to us?' He waited, but no answer came. 'Sylvan?'

Rechecking his arm, he noticed that he had not hallucinated. Sylvan was still there in his bracelet form. Kace was growing concerned. Since they were still alive and in one piece then surely Sylvan should have answered him by now. 'Maybe he's resting? If he even does that kind of thing?' Kace was now just trying to find reasons to calm himself down. No matter how unlikely they seemed.

He turned his attention to scanning the room. Nobody was there waiting for him to wake up. However, what struck him as odd was the fact that there were now bars over his window. Not only that, but it seemed like almost all of the furniture had been removed from the room, leaving it barren.

There was a solitary soft-looking chair by the window and his bed. That was it. His eyebrows tightened into a knot as he became even more confused about his current situation. He carefully slid out of bed, making sure to use the sheets to cover his important areas. With gentle steps, he moved towards the door. His hand reached out slowly for the handle, taking it in his grip he twisted it.

Nothing happened. Or to be more precise, the door rattled in its frame. Someone had locked him inside! 'What the hell is going on!' He tried pulling at the door, using all of his strength this time. When it banged in its frame, the door suddenly glowed with a soft blue light. Then a lightning bolt released itself from it, striking Kace squarely in the chest.

He was blown backwards and slammed into the opposite wall. Dropping the sheets in the process that now had a smouldering, blackened hole in their otherwise perfectly white form. Kace felt aggrieved with this sudden turn of events. 'What the fuck did I do to be treated like this!'

Seeing that the door was no good to him, he made his way to the window. As he stood there stark naked, he looked out into the courtyard below. There was not even the slightest hint of someone moving around down there. He had thought that he might be able to get someone's attention who could alert the others that he was now awake.

Since nobody had reacted to him trying to slam the door open or the noise that was made when he was struck with the lightning, he could only assume it would be useless to yell. 'Why would they not even leave any clothes for me?' The situation was becoming more mysterious by the second.

Suddenly he felt a pull at his consciousness. It was not the same as when Sylvan was seeking his attention. This was different. The feeling was urging him to look at the darkest corner of the room. When his eyes looked into the depths, he suddenly realised that there was a pair of bright blue eyes staring back him.

'Ah, it's Shadow! I'd forgotten about him!' The pair stared at each other for quite some time. Kace became agitated as he waited for him to come out and give him even a slight bit of information. Then as dawning struck his mind, he slapped himself in the face. 'I forgot I told him not to come out unless I was alone. Obviously, I am. Unless he knows something that I do not.'

"Ah, I just want to get out of here!" Kace yelled, doing his best to appear angry. This was his way of letting Shadow know what he should be trying to do.

When Kace looked into the corner again, the eyes blinked in silence and disappeared. 'Seems like he got the message.' Now it was just a matter of waiting for the results. Having no idea about how long it would take, Kace sat on the edge of the bed. 'Since he did not say anything, then someone must be listening in on this room. Also, he did not bother to show his physical form so I can assume they also have a means of watching me too.'

Kace scanned the room once again. Curious as to where they could hide a device capable of these things when they had practically emptied the room. His inquisitive nature got the better of him. He began by searching the bed, making sure to look between the double pillows stuffed inside their cases.

When that turned up nothing, he flipped the mattress. All that came into sight was the floor between the wooden slats that were there for support. 'Damn, I'll need to see if it's attached to the underside.' He got down on his hands and knees before poking his head underneath the frame of the bed.

With his Night Eye activated, he could tell that there was nothing out of the ordinary. Just then, he heard the lock on the bedroom click open. The door swung open with ease, letting a draft in that chilled Kace's nether regions. Causing it to retreat for the winter.

Shadow stood just beyond the door. His mouth hung wide open in disbelief. There, right in front of him was his Lord. Presenting his vulnerable rear end to him. This was all a mistake, though. Kace had gotten too worked up in looking for the surveillance device that he had not noticed that he had yet again dropped the sheets.

As Kace felt the sudden chill at the same time the door opened, he tried to stand up hurriedly. Hitting his head on the underside of the bed frame. When he slid out from underneath and realised what Shadow had seen, he gave him a look that spelt the goblins end. 'If you tell anyone! I will definitely kill you!'
