Chapter 152
152 The Flying Humanoid Demon
“Oh? What do we have here?”
Upon seeing the humanoid demons that float right in front of him and hearing what he had said, Blake’s mind quickly went into disarray as he tried to register what was happening.
While Robus just followed his instincts and recognized the floating humanoid demon as danger, Blake quickly tried to figure out what the situation in front of him implied.
The humanoid demon was using his wings freely, floating leisurely in front of him, just like how Vera was able to do the same thing.
Remembering what Vera told him about wings, then that means the humanoid demons in front of him had his wings fully developed, and there was a very high chance that the humanoid demon was already level 15.
Moreover, Blake might have been startled by the rush of information that he was trying to dig from his memory, but he was still able to hear very clearly that the humanoid demon in front of him, was in fact, able to speak just like him.
Blake’s eyes locked onto the floating humanoid demon’s, and a curious gaze was staring back at him.
Blake then quickly connected the puzzles that were scattered in his mind.
The native humanoid demons’ irregular behaviors, the rune formations that the native humanoid demons shouldn’t have access to, the fact that they were making boats and chopping wood instead of fighting and killing each other, and Vera’s guess that there was a humanoid demon from a deeper realm that was behind all of this.
.....
The humanoid demon that was currently face to face with him was probably the humanoid demon that Vera was talking about.
‘...’
“ROBUS! RUN! RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN!”
Blake’s shout quickly resounded as he urged his gorilla friend to immediately get away from the floating humanoid demon in front of him.
Blake didn’t know how strong a level 15 and an evolved humanoid demon from the deeper realm would be, but setting Vera as the benchmark of strength of such a being, Blake wouldn’t be stupid enough to think that he would be able to fight them without any preparations or knowing their traits and abilities beforehand.
Seeing the look of the humanoid demon that was still not as human as Vera, Blake guessed that the humanoid demon didn’t come from the same realm as Vera, and most likely he had come from a realm higher than her.
And following that logic, the humanoid demon shouldn’t be as strong or resourceful as Vera. But still, Blake won’t bet his chances when he was at a complete disadvantage and chose the safest option of running away.
Upon hearing Blake’s urgent shout, Robus didn’t even spend a split second to think before his feet had once again kicked off the ground and went sideways, avoiding the floating humanoid demon.
Blake took a glance backward and activated the rune formations that he held in his hand before throwing them to the 3 humanoid demons with the deformed wings that had finally gotten close enough while Robus and Blake were startled by the sudden appearance of the flying humanoid demon.
And when the 4 rune formations flew from Blake’s hand and hit the three humanoid demons, the flying humanoid demon only watched all of this happen with keen eyes.
The flying humanoid demon saw the wooden cubes and wooden balls flash and the spell began to manifest itself, stopping the three humanoid demon chasers by using a dark earth wall, trapping them inside a hole with a diagonal earth wall covering the top before earth spikes sprout out from the ground, stabbed and nailing the three humanoid demons on the ground.
Despite seeing all this, the humanoid demon just watched all this with interested eyes and a slight surprise in his heart.
“Where did it learn to do this?” The flying humanoid demon muttered out loud as his eyes darted onto the running demonic beast and the humanoid demon standing on its back.
The humanoid demon seemingly didn’t care about the duo that ran as fast as they could and instead scratched his own head, trying to figure out the answer to his own question.
But in the end, the floating humanoid demon just shrugged it off.
“No need to think about it, I can just ask them myself.”
Turning his body in Robus’ and Blake’s direction, the wings behind his back began to move as it generated a pushing force that was twice or three times as fast as Robus’ fastest moving speed.
With the three humanoid demon chasers gone into the spike hole that he created and the encirclement of humanoid demons had been left behind, Blake and Robus were able to move at full speed, making their way outside the forest as fast as Robus’ legs let them.
Blake thought that the flying humanoid demon didn’t chase him or Robus since it didn’t think that chasing them was worth it and just decided to let them go.
However, with the loud sound of wind coming behind him, Blake soon learned that his thoughts couldn’t be anything other than wrong.
Blake’s head then turned back only to see the floating humanoid demon was currently flying in the air, heading straight toward him. And with the flying speed that the humanoid demon was moving right now, it would only be a matter of about a dozen seconds before he caught up to him.
Blake’s mind went into overdrive as he began to think about what he should do in this situation. And as a demon mage, of course, what came first to his mind was to cast spells to impede the flying humanoid demon’s movement.
However, the flying humanoid demon beat him to the punch and he had already cast a spell before Blake’s head even thought of what spell he should cast.
Blake’s eyes quickly focused on the runes that the humanoid demon drew, and to say that he was surprised was not an exaggeration as he saw the humanoid demon’s casting speed was the same as his.
Which means that in that one second when the distance between him and the flying humanoid had closed even more, the humanoid demon had finished casting his spell.
Just like how he was able to see the runes that Vera drew the first time he arrived in the demon realm, of course, Blake was also able to see the runes that the flying humanoid demon drew.
In fact, he recognized the runes.
“ROBUS, JUMP LEFT!”
