Chapter 200 - Night Vision
Chapter 200 - Night Vision.
Ten hours after Legacy Tournament began.
The sky was becoming darker, and the temperature decreased till it was no longer safe to stay outside.
More Players died every hour, either from cold or because of starvation.
None of the Players could ever imagine that the game, which they thought was innocent at first, was actually very ruthless in some aspects.
The snow forest that was loud the entire day became silent.
No signs of firing or dying were heard.
Inside a certain cave.
A white-haired young man was sitting next to a campfire, with food cooking right in front of him.
He was Isaac, and he had one of the most nerve-wracking hours of his life.
He knew that the Player, who knows he was there, was outside, somewhere, waiting to make a move.
Not even for a moment, he lowered his guard. Instead, it increased after the sky became dark, and the light that was coming from the campfire made the cave even brighter.
He wanted to make some kind of cover at the entrance so that the light coming from the campfire won't leak outside the cave, but he couldn't do it.
The person hiding was waiting for him to make a mistake that would cost him his life.
Isaac hopes that no one was foolish enough to enter the cave where he was.
He could feel the temperature decreasing and hoped that everyone had found their own cover and would stay there until the temperature kept increasing once again.
The night will be most crucial in terms of survival, but daytime will be when most deaths happen.
Soon, the food was cooked in front of him, and he devoured it hungrily. He has saved his food as well as he could, but hunger still surprised him, which caused him to have his dinner earlier than he expected.
He wanted to survive till tomorrow without food, but dire situations needed solutions, and this time, he had to eat, but he still had enough to last couple more days.
The scent of the food traveled outside the cave, and a butterfly that was flying around smelled it.
The beautiful purple-colored butterfly started flying towards the smell and soon arrived at the crossroad, where it could already see the campfire and white-haired young man.
It could also see the tasty-looking food, and it almost looked like the butterfly was drooling.
The butterfly started flying closer and soon left the darkness and entered an area of light.
*Munch*
Isaac took another bite and started munching on the chicken, but then, with a corner of his eyes, he saw something flying.
His head snapped in the direction of the flying item and widened his eyes in shock after seeing it being a butterfly!
''Butterfly… That's impossible!'' He put the chicken down on top of the plastic bag and slowly grabbed a bullet from his leather pouch.
He saw the butterfly concentrating only on his food and not on him.
*SWOOSH!*
Without wasting any more time, he threw the bullet, which struck the butterfly perfectly.
The butterfly was sent flying and crashed onto the rocky wall before exploding into purple blood mist.
Isaac took a short breath, and soon notifications popped up.
[You Killed Butterfly of Surveillance!]
[500 XP Earned!]
''Butterfly of Surveillance?'' He murmured and widened his eyes in shock after understanding what it meant.
'It must have belonged to the person who knows I am here… Now that person will know I have food; he will definitely make a move!' A slight panic started arising on him, but he slapped his cheeks, regaining his composure because losing his calm would be his death.
'Think… Think…' He rubbed his forehead and started thinking about ways of survival.
He is trapped, and his opponent will have a huge advantage.
Who knows what kind of information the butterfly managed to give his opponent.
While, he doesn't know anything about his opponent, not even gender or weapon!
But, his brilliant mind soon started running, and a plan started forming in his mind.
It was risky, but he had no other ideas.
He grabbed his food and stuffed it inside the plastic bag before throwing it to the side.
He also grabbed his Flintlock Pistol and the leather pouch that contained its bullets and threw them next to the plastic bag.
Next, he did something unexpected.
Currently, the cave was too bright, which allowed his opponent to see where he was, which means he had to get rid of the light.
Isaac started stomping the fire, which soon died down, and the previous bright cave turned dark.
He aimed the musket rifle towards the crossroad and waited for his opponent to arrive.
His heart started beating rapidly, and he almost pressed the trigger by accident but managed to not make such an amateurish mistake.
Outside the cave.
LotusOfDeath opened her eyes.
She looked enraged after her precious butterfly died, and now she has to wait a week before it reincarnates.
That's the side effect of her ability. If the butterfly dies, she can't use it for a whole week!
The butterfly was also her only company during her journey in White Online, and they befriended, even if it sounded weird.
Seeing her friend dying made her enraged, even if she knew that the butterfly would reincarnate, but one week is a long time.
Also, seeing the food that the white-haired young man was munching made her impatient and hungry.
*Rumble!*
Her stomach rumbled, which caused her to fall down on her knees, and her HP started decreasing at a slow pace.
''Damn…'' She rubbed her stomach and slowly stood up.
In front of her, there was the dark forest, and she was getting rather cold. She had learned how to stay warm in cold temperatures, and this was nothing to her.
She used to stay two days outside in a place which was almost as cold like this and survived.
She also managed to hunt a bear that was said to be impossible to kill.
The bear was the last nail that caused her family to rise.
''I am hunter… I will avenge you, my friend.'' Her face looked cold as she jumped off from the mountain and landed right in front of the entrance.
She took a glimpse behind her and saw the dark cave.
Her face turned even colder, ''Useless tricks… You can't hide from me.'' Her previous blue eyes changed colors and turned green!
It was not like BlackNight's; it wasn't an offensive skill, instead supportive.
The skill she received from level 25 was Night Vision!
With this skill, she could see perfectly in the night and was, even more, deadlier than in day!
Isaac was in a big trouble, and he wasn't even aware of it!
