Chapter 806 - An Offer From The Leopold Family
Just as Yvonne had declared earlier, she was done with her files that were filled with information concerning her business much faster than her father who was still buried in the documents before him.
Though it was understandable as the Earl had a lot to look after while the little girl only had one business to focus on.
However, the daughter did not forget to let her father know that she was done and was free to take a nap while he needed to continue working.
"Where does she get that bold tongue from!?" Rutherford glowered as he watched her sauntering out of the room.
The door was still open and just as Butler Limo entered the Office with tea to refresh the weary body of his master, he happened to overhear those words.
The old man chuckled in embarrassment after placing the tray onto the table, pouring a cup of steaming tea for his Master.
"Did the Master forget that he was just the same with the Old master when he was younger?" He reminded the Earl of the past when he used to argue with his father in the same way.
Rutherford glared at his butler who had brought up a dark time of his past.
"I only did that as an act of rebellion. What does she have to rebel about?" He grumbled in a mutter, making the old man chuckle once again.
As the butler had no explanation in response, he chose to address another part of that topic.
"Master, Young Miss is too young to be rebellious right now but…" Butler Limo stopped speaking but Rutherford was able to grasp what he meant anyway.
Yvonne might be focusing on CLOVER and her studies right now but once she debuts into noble society as a young lady then her attention would be on the boys no matter how he saw it.
This made him glare at his Butler once again for picking a new matter for him to fret about.
Butler Limo realized that no matter what he said, he would be targeted as his Master was frustrated with his workload right now.
Thus he did not dare to stay there any longer and fled soon after excusing himself.
Rutherford sipped the warm tea before scoffing at his butler who had run away without halting for even a single second.
Shaking his head, he then decided to toss out all other thoughts and focus on the documents piled up on his table.
After all, he did wish to spend time with his son who would be here after a long time.
Therefore, following Raylene's commands, he perused the documents as quickly as he could.
At frequent intervals, he sipped his tea and before he could even complete the file currently in his hand, he had emptied his cup.
Not bothering to refill it, he set the cup aside and focused on the next file he had picked.
"An offer to work with the Leopold family?" He raised his brow at the new file which had been delivered recently.
Being the richest nobleman in the Kingdom after the Royal family, Rutherford had ties with most of the major businessmen who had already made a name for themselves.
One such was the Leopold family whose business was still being handled by the old man of that family.
Though the title of marquess had been passed on to his son, the current Fief Lord, the family business was still under the control of the patriarch, Jonah Leopold.
There was a simple explanation for why this was so.
The current Marquess had no talent for business and every investment he had made until now had only brought him losses.
There was a saying that talent skipped a generation and while he did not believe this myth for a multitude of reasons, Rutherford felt that it was true in the case of the Leopolds.
Jonah Leopold was the pioneer of business in his generation but his son was unable to uphold the same status.
However, he had heard word that Marquess Leopold's son, his heir, had a great talent for business and the old man was training him to take over the family business once he was ready to retire.
Marquess Leopold was only in charge of the management of their fief and everything related to it while the grandfather-grandson duo was responsible for the family business.
They were also the reason why the business was flourishing exponentially in recent times.
Among the Marquess families, the Leopolds were the wealthiest and this was a known fact.
Therefore, Rutherford was curious to see what exactly this offer from the Leopold family was all about.
Looking through the offer, it took mere moments for the Earl to deduce if this business venture would be profitable for him or not.
It seemed that he would have to arrange a meeting with the old man of the Leopold family soon, considering that he was quite pleased with the offer which was tempting to look at.
However, whether they could truly work together would depend on how the contract was formed and that would be decided only after a lot of negotiation.
Therefore, he placed that file aside and began focusing on other documents that needed his attention.
___
While Rutherford was straining his back and neck to obey his wife's commands of completing his tasks before Howard's return, Yvonne was stretching after she fell onto her soft and comfortable bed.
In the last six months, she had managed to end most of her classes as that had been on her mind for a long time now.
Her training with Captain Desmo and the lessons with Marquess Samed continued as usual but the rest were no longer needed.
Yvonne had already completed basic arithmetic and music in the past and during these six months, literature and etiquette had also come to an end.
There was only one left and that was dance which had now shifted to a weekend schedule.
Her dance trainer had insisted that she had no experience in dancing and hence would need these one-hour classes each weekend to ensure that she did not lose touch with what she had learned so far.
Thus Yvonne focused on her classes with the Captain and Marquess during the weekdays while Saturday and Sunday were meant for dance which ended before she even knew it.
The rest of her time had been focused on her CLOVER and also the stores that were being renovated.
Since they were not yet complete, she could only focus on other aspects of CLOVER while also tending to different matters.
During these six months, Yvonne had not only focused on her personal gains but had also spent a lot of time with the friends she had made.
The Jorbin household had relocated to the Capital a few months ago and now the Marchioness along with her three daughters were frequent guests at social events.
Though these events were private gatherings where only a chosen few were invited which made them feel safe and wanted.
They felt welcomed at these parties and were able to open up to the other ladies in a much better way.
Yvonne recalled the numerous times that she had been to the Tanner household in the last six months as most of these parties were held there.
The two Tanner boys were at the Academy while the Duke was often busy with his duties which gave the ladies a lot of free time to do as they pleased.
In these six months, there were also numerous occasions when Aleena and Elna had also butted heads with each other.
However, the victor did not remain constant in these fights as sometimes Elna won while other times, to her dismay, Aleena dominated her.
Yvonne, though, had been a silent spectator on most occasions as Aleena was learning how to deal with her rival in a befitting manner.
Not to mention that her elder brother, Jacob, had done an excellent job to teach her the art of ignoring people who annoyed them.
Since this was a talent he had honed in the past many years, he was the perfect teacher.
'Poor Cecily…' She shook her head while recalling how there had been no progress in the engagement talks between the Kiron and Yona family even six months later.
After all, Jacob had indeed learned the skill from his mother who equally ignored Marchioness Yona's hints to join the two families in marriage.
