Chapter 243: Double Agent Alice
Chapter 243: Double Agent Alice
With the help of the Gryffin Kingdom's teleportation array, Alice and Co arrived at the demon realm smoothly and safely. Throughout the entire process, Hatter had not asked Alice why she was going to the demon realm even once, his behavior showing that he placed considerable trust in Alice.
"So, this is the demon realm?" Zauna muttered as she walked out of the teleportation array with Alice. To hide the fact that she was human, she had worn a pair of light-red horns on her head, giving her the appearance of a demon. "Everything looks normal at first glance, but you can really feel the polluted mana in the air. I'm having trouble getting used to it."
"A large part of why the demons have been eyeing the human realm's territory is because of this polluted mana. So, it's normal that you'll find it unpleasant," Luna said. She might have spent her entire life living in the human world, but she had learned many things about the demon realm while working for the Gryffin Kingdom's intelligence department.
"If you put it like that, the demons are truly pitiful. I'm suddenly feeling a little sympathetic to them," Lalu said, her disguise being a small, red tail attached to her hip.
Out of their group of four, Lalu found it most difficult to adapt to the demon realm's mana because she had lived in the Elven Forest's clean environment since she was young. So, the demon realm's polluted mana made her feel incredibly uncomfortable. However, because of this situation, Lalu's hatred toward demons, which had been carved into the bones of all elves, had lessened significantly.
"By the way, why is it so dark here? Is it going to rain?" Zauna asked as she looked up at the sky. Even though she couldn't see any clouds, the sky still looked dusky.
"This is considered a bright and sunny day in the demon realm. It won't get any brighter than this," Alice said while messaging her GPS coordinates to Heris. Then, after putting her phone away, she explained to Zauna and Lalu, "The pollution here affects visibility. Although the visibility problem isn't too severe, it still causes the demon realm's sky to take on a gray tone."

"Is there no way to fix this pollution?" Zauna asked. When she thought about how demons had grown up in such a dark and polluted environment, she couldn't help but pity the demons a little. Demons who had never left the demon realm might not find this environment too big of a problem, but it must be torture for those who had visited the human realm before. After experiencing the human realm's clean air and mana, returning to the demon realm must be a very unpleasant experience for these people.
This was indeed the case in reality. A good example of such demons would be the Four Heavenly Kings. Every one of them had visited the human realm before. Meanwhile, after experiencing the human realm's environment, all of them, except the human spy Aird, sought to conquer the human realm as soon as possible. In fact, they were already showing great restraint by enduring the demon realm's environment for so many years, even after experiencing the human realm's environment.
Of course, while the demon realm's mana pollution was terrible, it wasn't so big of a problem that it made touring the demon realm for a few days impossible. The experience was just like entering a big city after living in an unpolluted forest for a long time. Although the transition would be somewhat unpleasant, it wouldn't take long for one to get used to the change.
After their conversation continued for some time, Alice sensed the approach of a familiar source of mana. Thanks to the talented body the Loli Goddess had created for her, Alice's strength had already reached an exaggerated level. Zauna and Lalu might not have noticed it, but Alice could clearly sense Heris's mana approaching their location rapidly.
Luna and Andusia, who was sitting on Alice's shoulder, had similarly noticed Heris's approach. However, they didn't know the owner of this mana, so they could only tell that someone was moving closer to them.
"Alice"
Sure enough, the familiar light-blue car that resembled a Beetle from Earth quickly appeared in Alice's view. Moreover, Alice had noticed that the animal stickers decorating the car had increased. She could also hear Heris shouting out her name from a distance.
If the others didn't know any better, they'd think that Alice had ordered a food delivery.
After the light-blue car stopped in front of Alice and the others, Heris jumped out of the car and lunged at Alice. Then, while picking Alice up like a child, Heris happily said, "Long time no see, Alice!!!"
Heris was in a very happy mood. Previously, her old man, Flaman, had constantly reminded her to behave politely in front of Alice and respectfully address Alice as "Lord Demon King." This situation frustrated Heris a lot.
However, now that Alice was trying to hide her identity as the Demon King in front of her human friends, Heris had a valid reason to call Alice by her name. She didn't need to hold herself back and behave politely around Alice, either. This meant she could knead Alice's petite face to her heart's content, something she thought she would never get the chance to do again previously. So, how could she not be happy?
"Cough, cough. This is Heris. We will be staying at her house throughout our trip," Alice said to her companions, her words sounding muffled due to Heris kneading her face. "Her family is quite influential in the demon realm, so you don't need to worry about your safety. So long as you don't run around making trouble, nobody will come to provoke you."
Slap.
Eventually, Alice lost her patience and slapped away Heris's hands. She felt that her face would deform if she allowed the demoness to continue with her actions any longer. Initially, her voice only sounded a little blurry when she spoke. However, Heris's kneading had gotten so overboard that Alice's voice started sounding garbled.
Meanwhile, Zauna and Lalu couldn't help but be surprised by Heris's intimate actions. They didn't think that Alice had made such a close friend in the demon realm.
Of course, Zauna and Lalu weren't aware that Heris was mainly behaving this way because she was a lolicon and a natural-born socializer. In their opinions, they believed that Heris was a friend Alice had made in the demon realm and that the demoness not only held great interest in humans but also didn't hold any malice toward humans. So, Heris made the perfect tour guide for them.
As a side note, Heris didn't know about Zauna's and Lalu's identities, either. Not that they had any, to begin with. At most, they could be considered the Hero's companions. Though, one of them still wasn't aware that Alice was the Hero.
Anyway, in the introduction Alice offered to Heris, Zauna and Lalu were merely friends she had made in the human realm. Meanwhile, the reason she had invited the two over to the demon realm was to "lower their guard against demons" so that she could "pry more information out of them."
Simply put, both sides got dragged together by Alice without knowing much about each other's situation. There was no possibility of Alice's identity as a double agent getting exposed, either. After all, both sides were intent on keeping Alice's identity a secret from each other. There was no way they would reveal anything important to each other.
