Chapter 232: Special Weapon(♀)
Chapter 232: Special Weapon(♀)
Alice did not try to connect with Andusia's weapon right away. Instead, she walked around the cemetery and scanned the vicinity using Mind Search first, ensuring nobody else was nearby.
Maybe because Elkite was a relatively peaceful town, Alice failed to find anybody in the graveyard. There wasn't even a gravekeeper to ensure the cemetery's security.
This situation relieved Alice. If someone else was nearby, she definitely wouldn't dare to shout "This Is Wrong" in this cemetery. She might be simply calling out the name of Andusia's weapon, but others didn't know that. If they heard her shouting this line of words that seemingly made no sense in the middle of a cemetery, they would most likely treat her as a girl with mental problems.
Meanwhile, the reason Andusia had given her weapon such a strange name was simple. Unlike the Hero's Sword, the weapon Andusia created didn't come with an instruction manual. So, she didn't know that Law-grade weapons would take the first words they heard after being created as their name. Hence, when she saw her weapon coming out looking different from what she imagined, she must have shouted "this is wrong" out of frustration and without realizing that her weapon would treat these words as its name.
Andusia might have thought of recasting the weapon. However, recasting a Law-grade weapon evidently wasn't an easy task, seeing as Andusia didn't do so.
While gleefully imagining Andusia's flustered expression when she realized her blunder, Alice shouted the name of Andusia's weapon, "This Is Wrong!"
Just like Andusia stated, Alice could feel a mysterious connection forming between her and something in this cemetery after calling out the weapon's name. It was as if the other party was responding to her call.
Of course, that wasn't to say that this weapon would respond to anyone saying the words "this is wrong." Unless someone was consciously calling out to it, the weapon wouldn't offer a response even if someone accidentally called out its name. Otherwise, Alice's Hero's Sword "Okay" would probably have to respond to hundreds of millions of calls each day.
After feeling a link forming between herself and "This Is Wrong," Alice turned to Andusia and asked:
"I can feel a link forming between me and your weapon. What should I do next?"
"...Don't tell me you don't even know how to use the most basic Summon spell?"
Andusia frowned as she looked at Alice. She couldn't help but feel that Alice was a little unreliable as a Hero. She also worried that she might be making a mistake relying on Alice to protect her friend's descendants.
Summon was one of the most basic spells in existence. Similar to the Illumination spell, Summon belonged was a basic among basic spells.
Regardless, Andusia still chose to teach Alice about Summon.
...
"So this is Summon..."
Alice didn't know whether to laugh or cry when Andusia finished her explanation on Summon.
Different from her assumptions, Summon wasn't a powerful spell that could move objects via teleportation or spatial repositioning. Instead, it was a spell with a very simple operating principleto summon, or, more specifically, grab the target item using mana.
For example, if she were to use Summon on the Hero's Sword, it would simply take to the air and fly into her hand.
The spell was so simple that, with her current mastery over mana, she could master it in only a few minutes. To put the spell's simplicity into perspective, learning how to cast Summon was akin to learning how to do basic addition and subtraction. In fact, according to Andusia, Summon was one of the first basic spells taught to children in grade school.
As to why Alice didn't know about such a simple spell, it was because she had never attended grade school in this world. There was no way high school textbooks would record such a basic spell, either. So, Alice ended up in a situation where she didn't know basic spells like Summon despite being able to cast taboos already.
Of course, after listening to Andusia's explanation, Alice quickly learned how to cast Summon. Then, she tried the spell on a fallen tree branch nearby.
Sure enough, under the influence of her extremely high-quality mana, the tree branch flew into her hand in the blink of an eye.

[Quality: Not Bad]
[Effect: Speed +2]
[Additional Effect: None]
"This really is 'Summon' alright"
Alice smiled helplessly as she realized how simple of a spell Summon was. The word "summon" used to name this spell carried the meaning of "call for." It didn't refer to the teleportation of a target object from one place to another.
After verifying the usability of Summon, Alice raised her hand at the grave before her. Then, using the connection between her and the weapon inside the grave as a guide, she cast Summon once more.
Immediately, a small tear opened up in the grave before her. Then, a black shadow broke out from the dirt and landed in Alice's hand.
Alice frowned when she saw the dirt covering the weapon. Immediately, she cast a Clean spell, clear water pouring out from her right hand and washing away the dirt that covered her hand and the weapon. Then, a stream of warm air circled around Alice's right hand, drying it.
Clean was a simple combination spell that involved water magic and wind magic. She had learned handy spells like Clean in class. Because it was more complex than Summon, it was also mentioned in high school courses.
After Clean had removed the dirt covering the weapon, Alice immediately felt the weapon's information appearing in her mind. At the same time, she could feel a surge of mana filling her body, the volume of the mana allowing her to instantly determine that the weapon she held was at the Law-grade.

However, Alice didn't bother looking at the weapon information in her mind right away. Instead, a grin appeared on her face as she looked toward the weapon in her right hand. She wanted to see why Andusia would think that this weapon was a mistake.
Meanwhile, the instant Alice saw the weapon in her right hand, she promptly understood why Andusia would shout out the words "this is wrong" immediately after creating this weapon.
The weapon in her hand was a lavender-colored stick with a bumpy surface and a rounded and smooth top. No matter how she looked at it, this didn't seem like a proper weapon
