Chapter 219: Kumoko Is A Little Dizzy!
Chapter 219: Kumoko Is A Little Dizzy!
Time passed quickly. Two days later, in the morning, Kimura Kazuki stood in front of Sakura Kyu High School’s gate.
It was now approximately 10 AM, and most of the students were in class. However, the members of the Kendo Association had all gathered at the school gate.
When Kimura Kazuki approached them, the members of the Kendo Association all smiled and greeted him. His popularity in the Kendo Association was now sky high; it was all because of Kimura-san, who led them to victory, that Sakura Kyu High School was able to participate in the Jade Dragon Flag National Competition.
Harunaka noticed Kumoko, who was beside Kimura Kazuki. She curiously inquired, “Who is this, senpai?”
“I’m onii-chan’s younger sister, Kimura Kumoko. It’s nice to meet onii-san and onee-san.” As she was saying, Kumoko took out some cakes from the small basket she was holding. She had toiled the entire afternoon to make them, as she wanted to make a good first impression on onii-chan’s fellow classmates.
Harunaka was stunned. She had known Kimura Kazuki for so long, yet she did not know he had a younger sister. Nevertheless, she solemnly accepted the cakes that Kumoko had brought.
It seemed like Kumoko really was his younger sister as Kimura-senpai did not deny it. In that case... if she wanted to be his girlfriend, she naturally would have to treat Kumoko well.
As for Kimura Kazuki, he did not feel anything much, unbothered to stop whatever Kumoko did. In his heart, he did not have any affection for her. Of course, affection could develop after being around each other for a long time, but that would be in the future. As long as Kumoko did not do anything too drastic, he would not get in her way.
It was now proven that Kimura Kazuki had made the right choice not to control Kumoko. She was highly lovable due to her personality, high IQ, and EQ. Within these two days, Furuhashi Sakurakyu had been completely won over by the little girl. Honestly speaking, Kimura Kazuki’s stomach also felt the same way about the meals in the past two days.
Lovely, gentle, adorable, independent, a great cook, and a skilled house chore doer... Even if Kumoko had to survive alone in society, she would no doubt live a better life than most ordinary people.
Harunaka accepted the cake, a strawberry daifuku wrapped in a thin sheet that felt cold to the touch. Gently taking a bite, her eyes gleamed, “It’s delicious.”
After the rest of the students tasted the cakes, they too gave endless compliments. In a flash, Kumoko had won them over. She was Kimura-san’s little sister, so everyone welcomed her warmly.
Soon enough, led by Mr. Matsumura, everyone got into action.
The Jade Dragon Flag National Competition had always been held in Fukuoka since its inception, and it would not be any different this year.
Everybody soon arrived at Shinkansen, bought the tickets, and boarded the tram.
The Golden Condor Flag was a judo competition organized by the West Japan News Agency and the Kyushu Judo Association. On the other hand, the Jade Dragon Flag was a kendo competition organized by the West Japan News Agency and the Kyushu Kendo Federation. Both of them were held during summer in Fukuoka annually.
In recent years, due to the online discussions about reclusive Japanese youth and crossdressing, the Japanese government showed signs of returning to their old ways. The number of spectators has gradually increased for close contact sports such as Judo, Taekwondo, and Sumo. On top of that, the events were also promoted by the Japanese government, so they would catch people’s attention.
Kendo was also one of the popular sports as it gave a “super cool” image and was well received by middle school students and high school students. Moreover, with the influence brought by ACG, the hype was stronger than ever. It was especially true for the Jade Dragon Flag, the international competition for high school students. Everyone paid close attention to it. The Jade Dragon Flag itself, along with the Golden Condor Flag and the IH Convention, were all equal in popularity, and it was considered as one of the three major competitions.
A few years ago, there were no regional qualifiers for the Jade Dragon Flag. Therefore, any school could participate, hence garnering international competitors. Hundreds of schools participated every year!
However, in the past two years, after the Jade Dragon Flag was reformed by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, and Science, it was now a legitimate high school Kendo competition! Led by the National Kendo Association of Japan, regional qualifiers were then implemented. The Jade Dragon Flag after reformation had a considerable influence and became even more popular.
There were a lot of people on the tram, but Kimura Kazuki and his company still managed to attract people’s attention. Many spectators, who had come to Fukuoka to witness the competition, had their eyes lit up as they recognized Sakura Kyu’s uniform and ran over to greet the team. Mr. Matsumura may be young, but he had a way of dealing with fans. As the students had to rest well to perform before the competition, he blocked any disturbances from anyone.
Kimura Kazuki did not say a word as he closed his eyes to rest. Nobody bothered him. At this moment, Kumoko was seated next to Harunaka. Due to Harunaka’s effort to befriend Kumoko, both of them got on together like two peas in a pod.
Kumoko was surprised the first time she saw Harunaka. Harunaka was a dead ringer for Furuhashi Sakurakyu, the high school version of the latter. However, she remembered onii-chan’s exhortation before they came. She did not reveal Furuhashi Sakurakyu’s existence to Harunaka.
Back home, Kumoko was very close to Furuhashi Sakurakyu, so she naturally got on well with Harunaka. Kumoko was very good at sweet-talking, winning over Harunaka from the moment she called her Harunaka-neesan. As for Huranaka, maintaining a good relationship with Kumoko would be beneficial since Kumoko praising her in front of Kimura-senpai would be more effective than making a move herself.
In another tram carriage, Akino, Fuyuno, and Natsui had skipped class to follow them. The three of them did not dare to tell Harunaka, for they feared that she might shoo them away and back to school. Therefore, they went ahead without informing her first. The trio did not expect to encounter Chiba Shiori even though they were in a tram carriage.
Akino did not have many thoughts after she found out that Chiba Shiori was here to cheer Kimura-senpai on. Fuyuno howbeit, was alarmed upon the sight of Chiba Shiori. Both of them were close back at the Tachibana Budo Gym, and she also knew Chiba Shiori was a Gentera teacher. Nonetheless, ever since she was clear about her own thoughts, she felt threatened when she saw Chiba Shiori.
Chiba Shiori sighed internally. It was too much of a coincidence. She snuck out without telling anyone because her mother would have disagreed for her to take a day off... In the end, she left a note behind and slipped out.
To Chiba Shiori, Kazuki would definitely emerge as the champion of the competition. She would certainly regret it if she did not witness it by his side.
Natsui, on the other hand, did not care much about Chiba Shiori. She was now on her mobile phone chatting with members of the “Kimura Kazuki’s Fan Club”...
The Jade Dragon Flag National Competition was held over a few days. Since the members of the fan club were comprised of high school girls, without their parent’s consent, they had no choice but to remain in school and dutifully carry out their studies. Of course, they hoped Natsui would be able to capture some shots of Kimura Kazuki’s heroics, where they could redraw them into manga form.
In no time, they reached Fukuoka.
Just as Kimura Kazuki alighted the tram, he heard a voice loud from behind. Turning around, he saw Ikioi Ito.
“Kazuki.” Before Ikioi Ito could even utter a word, a delightful voice rang out from the side. Kimura Kazuki turned his head to see Chiba Shiori.
However, Chiba Shiori addressing Kimura Kazuki as “Kazuki” bothered a few people.
In Japanese culture, calling someone by their given name showed that the two people were very intimate. It was especially true among the two genders. Besides childhood friends and family members, it would be done mainly by dating couples.
Kumoko stood beside her onii-chan, glancing at Chiba Shiori, then at Harunaka-neesan who had a stiff expression, and lastly, at the three onee-sans that looked exactly like Harunaka-neesan... She felt a little dizzy in such a confusing situation.
