Chapter 229 - Relic
"The oldie isn't wrong, master. Sulking around won't help you." Natasha appeared from underneath his bed. He had summoned her to discuss something important, "I, on the other hand, can do a pretty good job and raising spirits as well as... Something else."
"Keep talking like that and I might just have to set your a*s straight." Arnold warned her, all tinge of self-doubt and sadness long gone from his voice, "Did she-"
"Not yet, master. It would appear that she doesn't know anything else."
"I was hoping she did... Well, I can't keep thinking about it." Arnold waved his hands around.
They were talking about Mali's half-sister, Avila, whom the golems had captured during the attack. Once Tiamut had been killed and things had calmed down a bit, the representatives of Guardian syndicate wanted to interrogate the remaining attackers. Thus the family had to hand over the captives to the Syndicate. At least those who hadn't already been ripped to shreds upon Arnold's command. But unbeknownst to them, Arnold had already placed Avila in his domain. She was being held in one of the cells inside Avalon.
She was the only one who had a little information about the wolves thus he wasn't going to let her go. Not until he found the identity of the ones who helped them. Natasha was tasked with getting the information out of her and she happily accepted to do so. For the past few days, Natasha had been using the most sadistic forms of torture to get her talking, yet she had nothing. Tired and defeated, Natasha even tried to get her to talk using her hallucinations. Still, nothing. This confirmed that Avila didn't know anything about the identity of the one who helped them.
"I should have insisted on interrogating that Sebastian guy." Arnold massaged his temples, It's too late to think about that now. The syndicate would eventually get him to talk, sooner or later."
Sebastian, the hulking man, was taken into custody by the syndicate, just like the others. Arnold had been against it, but Nathan had convinced him to let Sebastian be handed over to the 'experts'.
"Either way master. Now that the girl is useless to you, what shall I do with her?" Natasha asked him, knowing full well what his answer would be.
"Why? Kill her of course." Arnold replied indifferently, "I'm not taking any risk. Not anymore. This was more than an 'eye-opening experience' for me. Rather than that, I think it'll be better to nip the bud before it grew too big. From now, I'll either kill my enemies and the ones nearest to them or convert them into by obedient servants. And since Avila got captured by a couple of golems, I don't think she's of much use to us. So it'll be better to kill her off than to let live."
As Arnold said those words, Natasha couldn't help but smile. She was lusting over her Master's ruthless demeanour. Also, knowing that Arnold was thinking about punishing her, didn't help her calm down a bit. Arnold was right, she was a masochistic bit*h. Yet she didn't want to get destroyed. Even though she could be resurrected, dying still wasn't that good of an experience.
"I think I'll have to visit Brazil soon. But before that, I need to complete my ascension quest. Or else, I'll die." Arnold mumbled.
Now that he was back on his feet and everything had more or less settled down, he could now focus on completing the life-threatening quest. After all the system had warned him, if the ascension quest wasn't completed soon, he will inevitably die.
He quickly grabbed the forging material box from his inventory.
___
REMARK: A rare reward which can be gained only through random rewards. This box contains a rare material which can be used to as a forging material to make a weapon of the lesser gods. When opened one of the following materials can be gained:
• Adamantine (2% chance)
• Celestial Platinum (8% chance)
• Celestial Gold (20% chance)
• Celestial Silver (30% chance)
• Celestial Copper (40% chance)
___
"I no longer have the luxury to keep using foresight to determine the kind of material I'd get from the box. I'm running out of time." Arnold let out a heavy sigh.
If this had been a game, he'd have already raged quit it. Sadly, it was real life. He didn't have the luxury to start over again. Time was running out and he didn't know how long it would take him to make something out of the material he got. Thus he decided to immediately open the box. As long as he had his life, he could get his hands on another material box but if he didn't use the box now, the chances of his survival thinner than a graphene sheet. (Author's Note: Graphene is the world's thinnest substance and is 0.3 nanometers thick. So pretty thin lol.)
___
Would you like to open the <Rank A Forging material box>
Yes/No?
___
"Yes."
The next moment, the room was filled with a blinding light. Arnold hastily covered his eyes and by the time the light subsided, the box in hands was replaced by a perfect cube of shiny blue metal. Arnold quickly used the probe skill on it.
___
OBJECT: Celestial Silver
TYPE: Forging Material
GRADE: A
REMARK: A rare metal made by the dwarfs containing God slaying powers (ineffective against higher gods but even they can be mortally wounded by using a weapon forged with this material). However, this material should be handled with extreme care. Mishandling the material could lead to genocide. Also, it is said that the famed weapon 'Pashupatastra' was made using this material.
___
Arnold was prepared to receive celestial copper from the material box as he was sure he would get that. But it looked like his luck stat was as strong as ever. He got one of the materials that he wanted from the beginning! All he needed to do was to make a weapon out of the material...
"But what should I make?"
He remembered Talos had told him about pashupatastra. Essentially, it was an arrowhead. But this wasn't an era to use arrows. Yet, he could make something similar out of it. Bullets.
But these wouldn't be ordinary bullets. He might not be able to use the Vindicator to fire them. This he would need a special gun too. Luckily, he had an abundance of materials to make a weapon as he had just killed a Dragon. Not just any dragon either, he had killed their damned goddess. He wouldn't run out of material even if he made a full set of armour from those materials. The creationist within him was burning with inspiration. He hadn't felt like it for a long time and now he was back in business.
