Chapter 48 - Get Lost!
Chapter 48: Get Lost!
Xiao Ying stood in front of the villa’s entrance and took a deep breath before entering.
Today, she didn’t even tell Cheng Yang about Xiao Lingbo inviting him over for dinner.
Xiao Ying suddenly did not want to have any ulterior motives towards Cheng Yang, regardless of whatever reasoning may be behind it.
Xiao Ying walked in and immediately saw the Xiao family members waiting in the living room.
Xiao Lingbo first looked behind Xiao Ying. When he saw that there was nobody there, his expression darkened.
“Where is Mr. Cheng?” He questioned.
“He doesn’t want to come and there’s nothing I can do,” said Xiao Ying
Xiao Lingbo felt a surge of anger. He had been here waiting until the sky darkened, only for Xiao Ying to tell him that she did not manage to invite Cheng Yang over.
Madam Xiao watched the show from the side, leisurely taking a sip of tea.
A smug look flashed across Xiao Ruoxuan’s eyes. Did this mean that Xiao Ying was not that important in Cheng Yang’s heart either? Although Xiao Lingbo did say that Cheng Yang was not a good person.
But Cheng Yang’s power and his looks still sent Xiao Ruoxuan’s heart racing. Not to mention his obvious difference in treatment between her and Xiao Ying, which made her even more unwilling to lose.
Xiao Lingbo’s expression was terrifyingly dark as he said angrily, “Didn’t I tell you that if you can’t invite him here, you don’t have to come back either?”
Xiao Ying could not be bothered to act with Xiao Lingbo and asked straightforwardly, “Then what do you want?”
Xiao Lingbo was angered by Xiao Ying’s attitude and shouted, “Get lost!”
Xiao Ying looked stubbornly at Xiao Lingbo and walked out without a word.
Walking out of the villa, Xiao Ying sat by the road, hugging her little yellow duck backpack.
She wasn’t sad, per se. She wouldn’t miss the Xiao family at all. It was just that with her previous life counted, it had taken her so many years to break free from the Xiao family’s cage of fakeness and insincerity. She couldn’t help but feel a little emotional.
Although Xiao Ying was not sad herself, the scene looked different in the eyes of others.
Cheng Yang, who had circled back, frowned when he saw a figure that looked like the little girl by the road.
He got out of the car and took a closer look. It was Xiao Ying.
Noticing the light in front of her being blocked by a shadow, Xiao Ying raised her head in confusion, only to see Cheng Yang
Cheng Yang frowned and asked, “What are you doing here? Do you know how dangerous it is for a child to be by the road at night?”
“Brother, why did you come back then?” Xiao Ying asked.
Cheng Yang revealed what he had been holding and handed it to Xiao Ying. “I forgot to give this to you.”
It was a beautiful seven-colored lamp, with the same colorful lights that Xiao Ying had liked on the carousel earlier today.
Cheng Yang said awkwardly, “I noticed that you really liked it today.”
Xiao Ying smiled and said, “So you tore down their amusement park ride?”
Afraid of leaving a bad impression, Cheng Yang added, “I paid.”
Recalling the current situation, Cheng Yang asked again, “Why aren’t you going home?”
Xiao Ying originally didn’t think she was sad, really.
But for some reason, when she saw Cheng Yang, her tears just started flowing uncontrollably.
Xiao Ying lowered her head to prevent Cheng Yang from seeing and tried her best to suppress her tears.
Seeing that Xiao Ying was silent, Cheng Yang thought it was because his words were too harsh before.
He sighed, his face softening.
After she still refused to make a sound, Cheng Yang reached out to touch her little face, only to feel warm water stains on her otherwise cool skin.
After being stunned for a second, Cheng Yang raised Xiao Ying’s head.
He saw that Xiao Ying had tears streaking down her entire face, and she was biting her lip pitifully without making a sound.
Cheng Yang felt his throat itch and swallowed a few times before saying, “What’s wrong?”
Xiao Ying sniffed, leaning into Cheng Yang’s embrace and bawling.
It was as if she was venting out all the sorrows of her previous life.
Cheng Yang frowned as he hugged Xiao Ying, a thought forming in his head.
The little girl had been with him all day and the only other place she had been was back to the Xiao family just now. Evidently, the reason for her strange state must be related to the Xiao family.
As Xiao Ying was crying her heart out, Cheng Yang’s heart felt strange too.
Cheng Yang touched his chest in confusion. This was the first time he had experienced such a strong sense of empathy.
