Chapter 255: Agares(1)
Chapter 255: Agares(1)
“Say what?” Exclaimed one of the Djinns after Wang Hao told them what Fang Lin had wanted. This speaker is Agares, the one with the Nature Power related to mountains and earthquakes.
His voice, which was deep managed to convey the confusion that he was feeling at the moment.
“So this disciple of yours who was the fusion of the goddess wannabe and that male runt wanted to fight us 4? Hahaha! I never met someone this stupid!” Agares’ whole body trembled as he showed his clear amusement to Fang Lin.
“If he wants to fight, then let him fight.” This time, the one who spoke was Orias, with the Nature Power of Void. His voice which exuded calmness continued saying,
“However, there is still a big cultivation gap. Instead of having us 4 fight him at once, he should face as one by one.”
Upon hearing this suggestion, Wang Hao immediately agreed, without letting Fang Lin say his piece.
Fang Lin could only pout angrily at this action. He wanted to fight them 4 on 1, not 1 on 1.
When Wang Hao saw Fang Lin’s expression, he held back a sigh as he asked to Fang Lin,
“Do you know what aspects of the cultivator each stage nourishes?”
Fang Lin’s reply was,
“The Body Refinement Stage and the First Stage nourishes the body. The Second and the Third Stage nourishes the cultivation of the practitioner. The Fourth Stage nourishes the soul of the practitioner. As for the Fifth Stage, that was the nourishment of the practitioner’s insights. Only when these aspects of the cultivator were nourished that he/she can attempt to reach the Sixth Stage.”
After hearing his answer, Wang Hao flicked Fang Lin’s forehead as he said, “Then that means that those Djinns you will face will have their Nature Power able to affect souls. Even with your many cores, your soul can still be affected by them! So the best option was a 1 on 1 match!”
“....Fine.” Fang Lin had no rebuttal against Wang Hao’s cold logic.
“Is that so? Then let me test him first!” Agares said enthusiastically as his mountain form changed.
Fang Lin and Wang Hao cringed a little, definitely not liking what they saw.
Agares was now in a form of a tanned man, with a lean but muscular body. The shape of every part of his body was well-defined, that can entice any susceptible females. But what made the situation worse was the fact that Agares was naked, as if he wanted to flaunt his oiled skin.
“Can you wear something decent first? You two will fight as men, not as exhibitionists...” Wang Hao muttered to Agares.
“Oh, does this offend you? Fine, let me do this.” Agares’ private parts were suddenly covered by a brown cloth. With this cover, Fang Lin was able to look at his opponent directly.
Wang Hao then put himself between them, intending to be the referee.
“Since one of the combatants, Fang Lin, can only use his full power at Genie’s Mist Room, we shall use that as the venue of this fight!”
Fang Lin could only give Wang Hao an incredulous look as he was now wearing a referee’s attire, complete with the while gloves and the shiny black shoes.
Fang Lin sighed and just ignored his master’s hobby.
“As agreed upon earlier, the time limit for this fight is 15 minutes. The one who remains standing after 15 minutes is the winner. If both are standing or are down after 15 minutes, its considered a tie.” Wang Hao then looked at Fang Lin, who gave him a solemn nod.
As for Agares, he had a silly smile as he cracked his knuckles repeatedly. “Another knucklehead.” Wang Hao thought to himself while shaking his head.
“If both of you are ready, then let’s start this fight!”
All of them were then covered by the Genie’s mist, bringing them all to her Mist Room.
At the instant that they were inside the room, Agares was already on his attacking position. He gave a smug grin to Fang Lin as he said,
“Boy, let me show you how fragile the soul of someone like you is!” Agares was stared at Fang Lin as one earthen-colored sword went out of his forehead.
This sword looked translucent as it barreled towards Fang Lin.
“A soul attack!” Wang Hao thought grimly as he stared at the translucent sword.
The main reason the Fourth Stage Practitioners could easily trash those below them was because of their powerful soul.
The soul was the aspect of the practitioner that assists them on harnessing their power. Injure or damage the soul, and the power a practitioner can harness will diminish drastically.
That’s the advantage the Fourth Stage Practitioners have. Their souls were destroyed and was reborn from their dao/law insights. This rebirth from destruction grants them their powerful souls.
Given this transformation, their powerful souls will easily suppress those at the lower stages. This suppression weakens the fighting ability of those at the lower stages, making them helpless against the Fourth Stage Practitioners.
Not only that, but soul attacks were common among the Fourth Stage Practitioners. These attacks will of course heavily injure the souls of those at the lower stage, which further weakens their fighting abilities.
In short, those at the lower stages than the Fourth Stage were basically f***ed.
Wang Hao tensed, ready to swoop in if Fang Lin receives a heavy injury. To his surprise however, Fang Lin did not even attempt to dodge the soul attack. He let it pierce his chest, with him moving back a step from the illusory impact.
But instead of seeing his disciple fall down with his orifices bleeding, Wang Hao only heard Fang Lin grunting a little. But aside from that, nothing else happened to him!
“That’s a soul attack? How weak!” Fang Lin muttered as his body began to tremble.
“Roar!!!!”
Wang Hao’s eyes then widened as he seemingly heard an illusory dragon roaring behind Fang Lin. The spectators also heard the roar, as they gave Fang Lin a more vigilant look.
Then 5 seconds after the roar, everyone’s eyes widened including Agares’ as they saw Fang Lin being covered by something. With their experience, they knew what it was. But that was also the reason they could hardly believe that Fang Lin had it.
“That’s a martial aura!” Agares shouted, as his eyes began to glow with excitement. “I did not think you have something like that hidden in your sleeves!”
Right now, Fang Lin’s whole body was covered by a violet-colored aura. It was all over his body, acting like a thin piece of cloth armor.
Agares, who was the nearest to Fang Lin, could feel the soul suppression that he was putting on Fang Lin dissipating when it touched the violet martial aura.
“I get it! That violet martial aura of yours negates soul-related effects! No wonder you were not scared to fight us 4!” Agares was surprisingly quick-minded even though he looked like a brute.
“See this master? You should not be worried about me!” Fang Lin said smugly as he faced the excited Agares. “With this martial aura of mine, your greatest advantage is gone!”
“Is that so?” Agares said with a feral grin. “You know, souls attacks were really not my best area. My attribute was with the earth, so my Nature Power was mostly focused on the physical attack part!”
Even though their way of cultivation was different from the Practitioners, Djinns can actually mimic the special features of each stage, like a Nature Core for the Third Stage, Nature Soul attacks for the Fourth Stage and Nature Domain in the Fifth Stage. But even though they can do these emulations, their real power still lies on their Nature Power itself.
Agares had the Nature Power of Earthquakes and Mountains, so it was no surprise that his real power was on the physical attack side. In fact, one can even say the threat of his physical attacks were even greater than his soul attacks!
“Seeing that you have a special body, I deem you worthy to receive a hammer strike from me!” Agares opened his right palm, and there, a wooden hammer appeared. Its handle was as long as an arm while its round, wooden head looked fairly polished.
“That’s Agares’ Item!” Fang Lin thought as he looked at the wooden hammer warily. “Genie can harness her power over mists with that disk of hers. Then that means Agares’ power over earthquakes and mountains will be harnessed through that hammer!
Agares twirled his hammer idly as he raised it high in the air. Fang Lin then heard intense rumbling sounds from the hammer, as if there was a massive earthquake happening inside it. He can also feel as if the hammer head was a massive mountain looming over him.
“Dang, that thing really looks bad!” Fang Lin knew that getting hit by that hammer will be not good. But will Fang Lin fear such thing? Of course not!
“You have that hammer? Then let me show you what I have!”
“Moo!!!! x3”
This time, the spectators felt as if they heard three raging bulls bellowing in anger. They immediately looked at Fang Lin, who looked drastically different now.
The current Fang Lin was covered by a glinting bronze armor. Even his head was covered, making him look like an automaton.
What was unsettling about the bronze armor was the fact that there were three bronze bull heads attached to it!
One was covering Fang Lin’s head, while the other two were protruding from his chest area, with each one residing on the left and right side of his chest.
The bronze heads looked eerily alive, with their glinting red eyes and snapping mouths. Fire occasionally came out of their nose and mouths, contributing to a cool but sinister-looking appearance.
Wang Hao immediately knew what beast this armor was related to.
“That is the Three-Headed Khalkotauroi!”
Fang Lin’s muffled voice then sounded out from the armor.
“How about comparing the might of your hammer with my bronze armor? You must be curious right?”
“Hell yeah I am!” Agares shouted as he bounded towards Fang Lin. “Then here I come!”
Agares brought his hammer plunging down to Fang Lin, as Fang Lin felt his breathing being constricted from the sheer pressure alone.
Wang Hao, who was observing from the sidelines, tensed as he realized this exchange was the most important part of the match.
“Whoever comes out on top after this exchange will most likely be the winner!”
What Wang Hao saw next was Fang Lin relaxing his body as he was suddenly covered by a ghastly green glow. He then saw Fang Lin giving a provocative smile to Agares as he said,
“Hit me with all that you got!”
