Chapter 193 - The Fools (1)
Next morning.
Lin Xiaofei stretched out her arms as she got out of her bed.
Last night, Lin Xiaomeng was able to drink the antidote in advance before his body started to deteriorate from the poison.
And because of that, she was able to get some sleep albeit for only about three hours, and woke up slightly later than expected.
Soon after she was done washing her face and change into new robes, Lin Xiaofei didn't dally to a certain place where things will begin again.
"It is too early to move out, young miss. Please drink this tea that will help warm your body." A man politely told her.
They were currently inside the carriage that will take her to that place and because she had some important things to do there, she called Shen Mo to go with her..
And it wasn't only Shen Mo whom she called out. The other man who just offered her a tea to drink was the waiter in Hong Pei Lou and a subordinate of Qu Xing Xu.
Honestly, Jimo didn't know why he had to go with her. Lin Xiaofei's thoughts have been very deep and quite impossible to read.
Just like now.
After her personal guard went to Hong Pei Lou to ask him to go to his young miss, Jimo was slightly surprised but he also didn't want to go. After all, this woman was the same woman who made his master bow down to her and asked for impossible demands from him, and got out unscathed.
She even managed to steal their master's heart and eventually, marry him.
And that woman now was just leisurely looking down at the chess pieces on the board before her.
Lin Xiaofei slowly raised her head and met his eyes, seemingly aware of his eyes were looking at her.
Then without rhyme or reason, Lin Xiaofei smiled at him.
A lot of people might fall head over heels for her after seeing that smile but Jimo felt like he was standing before a beast.
His body involuntarily shuddered at that thought and looked away.
On the other hand, Shen Mo sat on one side and saw all this. And instead of pitying the waiter, a surprisingly pleasant feeling was born inside him.
'Was this what they called seeing others' misfortune will make you feel better?'
Of course, Shen Mo couldn't show his smiling face as Jimo was already in a bad mood for being left out by his master and instead took another waiter along with him.
Soon they arrived at their destination. It was the main auction house that the royal family allowed to live even after shutting off every other auction houses in the empire.
This auction house was only allowed to continue their business for the fact that they do not cross the line where they would sell livestock and human as a product. And instead, they sell precious items, jewelry, and herbs that could be sold at a very good price.
"Young miss, I reserved a good spot for you yesterday. Please, follow me." Jimo dutifully took the lead and brought Lin Xiaofei and Shen Mo to a private room upstairs.
Lin Xiaofei raised her eyebrows as she was impressed at the room Jimo prepared for her. But that wasn't all.
As she ordered, Jimo made sure that she would be sitting next to the room where the 'actors' of her plans will use for the entire auction.
"Have they arrived yet?" Lin Xiaofei asked as she sat down.
Jimo readily nodded his head as if he expected her to ask this question to him and answered, "They have been inside that room since the auction house opened."
"That's a surprise. 'Them' being such an early bird. Even I am shocked at this." Lin Xiaofei chuckled as she glanced at the wall separating the room where she was and the room beside it.
Inside the other room.
"When will they start the auction? We've been here for three hours already!" A beautiful young lady asked a man who was sweating under the pressure of the two ladies before him.
"Please forgive our incompetencies. There were some delays in loading some items that will be auctioned off today." The man explained but as soon as he finished talking, he was hit with a teacup on his forehead.
The loud noise was enough to gather some glances from the people downstairs but because they simply couldn't see who made that sound, they soon ignored it after glancing once or twice at that room.
The man flinched in pain but bit his lips to prevent from uttering a sound.
"Useless! Why did father even let this auction house continue their business if they can't start early?! Tell your master that if he doesn't start now, I'll have someone burn this auction house!" The lady said in complete arrogance as she lifts her chin up.
The man could only bow a few times before he left in a hurry to go to his master.
"Master, the important guests want us to start the auction now." He said this while his hand was on his forehead where a bruise was starting to appear.
His master only glanced at him with an uninterested expression on his face and said, "Then, tell them to leave. I rule this auction house, not them."
"But master!"
"Watch your tone." His master reprimanded him.
The man's face fell but the flames in his eyes told his master that the man wasn't affected by what happened to him.
"Are we supposed to make them wait then? Master, you know that we cannot afford to offend these ladies. They're the princesses of the Zheng empire!" The man finally revealed the identities of the ladies inside that room.
"And?"
His master still didn't see any reason why he must start the auction just because the princesses of the empire has come.
"When they're inside the palace, they can act arrogantly and order us around. However, when they got out of the palace gates and stepped inside my auction house. I rule and no one can tell me what to do. So, tell these little girls to wait." The man listened as his master coldly swept his eyes at him.
