Chapter 117: The War Begins II
Chapter 117: The War Begins II
"What the hell is he doing?"
Hearing Don, Kate frowned and mumbled under her breath. Not only Kate, even the men from Korrinth thought of Don as crazy since Agorians had outnumbered them by 4 to 1.
"Brat..."
Looking at Don, King Garreth opened his mouth to mock him but before he could say anything, a loud thunderous sound reverberated through the battlefield out of nowhere.
"What's happening?"
As everyone was wondering about the thunderous roar, suddenly a bright beam of light appeared from the sky and landed behind Don.
When the light beam landed, it made the ground shake and created a small dust storm on the battlefield which blanketed the vision of everyone.
Little by little slowly, the dust storm began to clear and settle down as King Garreth started to see figures standing behind Don. And when the dust completely settled down, everyone's eyes went wide in shock as nearly five hundred soldiers in black armors stood behind Don.
Seeing the scene before him, King Harold pinched himself to see whether it's true or he's dreaming while Darlene couldn't take her eyes off Don and the soldiers behind him.
"Archers"
Don didn't shout but his voice was powered with battle energy so it sounded loud and clear to everyone.
The moment they heard Don, the Everlight's archers nocked the arrows onto their bowstrings and released the arrows aiming at the Agorians.
It only took the archers a second or two to take out their arrows and shoot at the Agorians, the training they had in Everlight turned them and the elves' natural ability as archers turned them into a deadly force just like Don planned in the first place.
"Shield cover!"
Jowan shouted with all his might but it was too late as the arrows already killed nearly fifty mercenaries who were standing in the front of the line.
"Masters"
Darlene mumbled under her breath when she saw the archers of Everlight in action.
"March forward"
Seeing the deadliness of the archers, King Garreth realized they are sitting like ducks in the open field to be killed as he ordered his men to move forwards
The men didn't need King Garreth's order as they already started to run towards Korrinth's side. Just as Everlight's infantry saw the enemies running at them, they raised their shields and stepped in front of the archer unit and formed a defensive formation.
"Look out!"
While they were marching at Korrinth's side King Garreth heard Irvin's shout and turned his head to see a black-robed person slitting his general's throat
"Bastard!"
King Garreth shouted but before he could do anything the person disappeared from his sight leaving the lifeless body of the general behind.
"Jowan who are we dealing with?"
Irvin quickly cast a shield spell to protect himself from the black-robed assassin
"I don't know"
Before they could even reach the Korrinth's side, the archers of Everlight killed a quarter of their men as Agorian's dropped dead like flies.
If the archers weren't problematic enough, the black-robed assassins started to appear and disappear out of nowhere and every time they appeared, they killed the master level mercenaries as well as the powerful men in the army.
"Who is he?"
King Harold saw the entire battle with an open mouth, the battle started only just a couple of minutes ago but they had already killed so many of the Agorian's without breaking a sweat, and he had yet to see the Everlight's infantry in battle.
As the Agorians got closer to Don, Arrora dashed forward as she grabbed a sword from one of the men from Korrinth's army and appeared before Don.
And when Arrora appeared before Don, Darlene thought as she's there to protect Don but she didn't expect Arrora to run towards the Agorians without any shred of fear in her eyes.
Seeing the girl running at them, Irvin couldn't help but remember the girl beat him at the Royal Dine as subconsciously Irvin stopped his horse from moving forward.
As Arrora got closer to the Agorian's her figure started to blur as no one except Darlene could see Arrora with her current speed. And when she was a few feet away from the Agorian's Arrora leaped into the air as some of the Agorian's looked up to see a white blur in the air but before they could realize what's happening, the white blurred landed in the middle of the Agoria's elite troops.
Even though no one was able to clearly see Arrora with her speed, Don could see everything in slow motion.
"Jowan, King Garreth get to safety"
Irvin shouted as he witnessed the commotion among the Agoria's so called elite.
The elite troops were single-handedly stopped from moving forward by Arrora.
Every single one in the elite troop unit had a little fear and panic in their eyes instead of Arrora while they started to circle her.
"Let's dance shall we?"
Arrora smiled and flicked her wrist and then in a flash, her figure started to blur again.
"Great master"
This day already gave too many surprises to Darlene and when she thought Arrora's gonna get her self killed, what started to happen was the exact opposite of her thought.
The elite unit of Agoria began to crumble before Darlene's eyes as one by one they were beheaded by Arrora. Seeing Arrora's performance Don was impressed since she's facing all of them single-handedly and killing them without breaking a sweat.
Even Darlene herself was not sure about facing the elite units and defeating them without casting any powerful spells, of course that was because Darlene was cultivating life energy whereas Arrora cultivated the hybrid energy which had given her the ability to manipulate the elements around her to enhance her abilities and skills.
"Infantry"
The infantry stepped forward when they heard Don and hit their shields with their axes and heavy swords.
"Archers, take out the cavalry"
Usually, cavalry was the weakness of Archer units but Don had confidence in his Archer unit to take them out while the infantry prepared to face the incoming enemy infantry units.
Until now Korrinth's army just stood there and watched the battle and Don didn't care about this because he wanted this to be Everlight's show.
When King Harold heard Don's order about Archers taking on Cavalry, he thought of it as an amateur move by Don. However just like the mercenaries at first, the cavalry unit started to crumble when the archers shot the men riding the horses with deadly accuracy. He couldn't see a single arrow missing its target.
What surprised King Harold and even Darlene was a small kid in the Archer unit, he was twice as fast as the other archers. Darlene wasn't even sure how the little figure was able to see the enemies due to his height but every arrow he released hit the target without missing.
"What are you looking at ? release your arrows, kill the Agorians!"
With the newfound courage, Korrinth's men tried to mimic the archers of Everlight by targeting the moving cavalry, and even though their arrows were able to hit the target, they missed most of their target and landed on the ground.
"Idiots, target the infantry"
King Harold shouted as he felt embarrassed seeing the efficiency of his archers compared to Don's.
"Shields!"
Everlight's infantry shouted as finally, the Agorians reached them.
"Where is Don?"
Due to the large number of troops running at them, Darlene missed the sight of Don who was standing before the Everlight's infantry just a moment ago.
Surprisingly when she looked around, she found Don. She didn't know how he got beside her father, still he did that.
For the first time since King Garreth planned to take Emir, this was the first that he started to have second thoughts. In his behind, he saw bloodied corpses of his men and most of the mercenaries. Every single one of the corpses had an arrow or two sticking out of its head or chest. And when he looked at his precious elite troops, he heard the screaming and blood spraying sounds as he saw the white blur beheading them one by one.
Unlike King Garreth, Don was having a good time looking at his troops.
Since the troops got too close, the archers stopped firing the arrows and even if they wanted to, there were not many cavalries left for all of them.
And when everyone thought that Everlight's archers were deadly, the infantry unit broke their idea as the war-hungry dwarves started to chop and ravage through the enemy infantry with ease. The top quality shields and armor gave the superior advantage to them as every single swing they made, chopped the enemies in half.
Because Everlight's infantry had a fair share of demihumans and humans among them and to the fact that the armor made them look a little taller, no one took notice of the short sized dwarves except for Darlene.
"Who are you people?"
King Harold asked Don while looking at the massacre before him.
"This is not looking good Jowan"
Irvin said as he looked at the last man in the elite troop getting killed by Arrora.
King Garreth's heart ached and he felt dizzy when he saw the lifeless bodies of his elite unit. Most of them were beheaded but some of the bodies were cut in half, he couldn't guess how the girl was able to slice through their armors.
"Shit"
While King Garreth was looking at the bodies, Jowan shouted in fear.
"Shit"
Just like Jowan, Irvin also said the same thing in shock when he saw Arrora.
