Journey (28)
Your appearance saved my day
Now the ongoing battle was somewhat stable. Though the hunters were still surrounded with monsters but they were not baffled as before. The presence of two more hunters caused the monsters reaching at top fell back after getting injured. The thing caused the battle from wining to loss; when they actually saw the monsters unable to grasp hold on the top of the mountain. Their initial plan was to engage the four hunters at the lower side of mountain and let the troop reach the top. From the looks the plan seemed failed however battling with two extra hunters should not bring this vast difference seeing the numbers of the monsters.
Lowa was giving her best and battling to no end. She was like revived from the dead and the monsters were her real enemies. Her occasional yelling during her attack was little off for Qiao but he has to bear with it. This remembered him the international badminton contests where two female opponents almost produced the same voice while hitting the court ball. It seemed without producing the voice they won't be able to put the right attack or defeat the opponent. Normally this was also used as tactic to threaten the enemy.
After killing few of the monsters; Lowa reached level five. Finally she could say that she qualify as a traveler and also a new recruitment in the Hightown Guild campus. She spent only six months in the real hunting world and it looked like ages gone when she last bade farewell to her mother. During this she witnessed a lot. There were some incidents which she might never be able to scratch away from her memories. It would become part of her learning process as well as fearsome confrontations. Also it increased her experience as huntress.
Wuza was very attentive at this time even blinking was not allowed. The roaring of the monsters cannot distract his eyes from the four hunters at the down side of the mountain. Qiao and Lowa were currently busy with the monsters and he has nothing but to be alert. Seeing that the four hunters were stuck between monsters; Wuza moved near them. His stature was still burly compared to the Silver Class hunters. Their bodies were perfectly built and they were at the peak of physical gain of strength according to their level. However a blood hunter always appears unusual in face to face comparison.
Level five peak was the last chance for the normal hunter to perfectly shape the body later levels cannot guarantee bodily improvement unless the hunter was diligent or he built his base during the primary levels. As for the blood hunters were concerned. They keep improving with their standard levels which differ from the normal hunters. The peak level blood hunter looks fearsome and stoic with impressively built body as well the capabilities. Since the blood hunters die just like at the age of a common human; they enjoy their full strength from the very young age.
"Instead of retreating the monsters are getting more wishful. What should we do?" the first hunter who was now surrounded from all sides shouted to get an answer. "Keep attacking there is no way to shoo them away without battle." Team leader answered from somewhere. He himself was busy and currently no chance for delay in attacks; perhaps after putting their last efforts the monsters moves back. But for now they have to remain persistent with the attacks. No matter how strongly the monster wanted to get on the top of the mountain; they would eventually back down after seeing pools of blood of other monsters.
"So they are here for getting whips. Sure as hell they want." The hunter brought another stone and kept attacking and dodging at the same time. They have limited number of attack type stones and they were decreasing. Using sword at times was difficult because it would let the monsters close in and it was similar of taking risk on the life of hunter. Hunting a monster with the sword was different rather than battling lot of monsters for securing the mountain. They were in numbers; furious and wishful.
Wuza spotted this hunter in the middle of many monsters so he came to render helping hand. He brushed past the pack of monsters and entered in the circle. The hunter saw this new one joining hands with him. He was glad as well as curious. The new one was entirely different from a normal hunter and despite being a Silver Class he was unable to predict his level. Wuza did not bring out his weapon or his attack stone. He was only leaping at the nearest monster and then throwing it afar with force. It was strange for the hunter to witness. For some time he kept his tongue sealed but he has his limits.
"Wait what you are doing?" he asked puzzle. Wuza did not look at him and answered, "I am helping. Can't you see?" his tone was not friendly nor it could be labeled as adversary. The hunter barely held his falling jaw, 'Help? What kind of help it was?' he thought in his head. 'If he really wanted to help then should not he kill rather than playing catch and throw?' the hunter saw the odd facial expressions of the 'helper' "I guess it is still helpful." The hunter finally gave in and minded his own business.
After this helping session was over; Wuza leapt toward the other hunter timely saving him. The hunter was exhausted after facing unlimited numbers of monsters. If he correctly counted then this number matched with his entire hunting career until now. It was horrible calculation. When Wuza joined hands though it was strange but helpful at the same time; the hunter felt at ease. Seeing so many injured monsters and their blood dripping on the ground Wuza licked his lips but he has no permission for randomly imbibing blood of any monster unless the Hightown point out preferences and limits. Till then he cannot go against the orders of the brother hunter. Qiao attentively chose monster for this purpose.
The monsters saw the difference initially they thought to put maximum effort. But after it was not changing and none of the side was going down; they saw the number of dead and injured monsters. It was not intellectual if they still kept attacks and face the damage in return. Remaining alive can make them come back but going dead would not bring good for them. They were forced to think this critical aspect. Almost half of the attacking monsters were now either injured or dead and scattered on the ground. The next phenomenon was also about to occur. It was tough for them to decide at this point.
The stronger monsters looked toward the peak of the mountain and saw one or two monster's bodies rolling down from the steep, dead. It was enough for them to immediately decide what they should choose. Slowly they started retreating. Losing more of monsters meant that they were going to extinct in this island after surviving Volcanic Territory. And this was not acceptable.
The hunters noticed this and felt relieved. "They are defeated man." The team leader shouted with excitement. After seeing swarm of monsters; he almost chocked to think that under his supervision this Nest was going to be taken over by the intruders and it would greatly blemish his career as hunter. Though it was named as quest to look after the Nest for three months before the Class Test however it seemed that this harmless quest would ruin his leadership as well hunting career. He could imagine the Rank Master yelling at him, 'A mountain; you could not secure just a mountain' sounding it as something trivial as the tiny fly.
The monsters returned back. "What about these dead bodies?" one of the hunter pointed. "Let the natural phenomenon occur then we'll see the leftover and where to dispatch." The team leader voiced exhausted. He was walking among the several dead bodies of the monsters and looking toward the mountain where two hunters were standing triumphant. Wuza returned back and stood beside Qiao; he knew that the hunters were very curious about him however he cannot answer them straight. He has brother hunter to look over it.
"Are they helpers are conquerors?" one of the hunters also saw them and asked the team leader. "I cannot tell unless I reach the top of the mountain." It was simple doubt they were enemies then they would attack but if they were enemies why would they help. "Don't speak anything; I am too exhausted to answer any concern." They were battling to no end and finally got rid the monsters. "The mountain is cleared we should leave now." Qiao voiced. "What about the hunters with their questioning faces?" Lowa asked puzzled. "We are not here to clear the doubts I guess. They could meet us in the Hightown if they want." Qiao spoke and walked at the backend of the mountain traveling for the third island.
