Chapter 129 - Mira, TMV, And Anna
Back in Lumbart Academy, Del gave the requested item back to Mira, the co-leader of TMV. She was pleased when she retrieved the flower. The expression signified more that she was surprised instead of pleased. She put the flower below her desk. She just smiled while scratching her head.
"You know, Del, I did go to the great snow land to observe you since Daniel was extremely worried about his decision. Still, I don't know how you got this plant, but thank you so much," Mira said.
Aveline was also there, surrounding Adam and Del's table. She wasn't sure about what had happened. Still, it was definitely interesting enough to keep two members of the student council to join in the conversation. Anna was also there. She was also listening.
"I'll assume that you went there with Walter," Anna commented.
"Yeah."
Aveline was intrigued, "Who is Walter?"
It was a rather simple question. Of course, Del wouldn't answer. It was better to stay silent unless Anna wanted to answer with an equally secretive answer. Keeping one mouth shut was the best way to keep a secret. Opening it required much more effort than that.
"Walter is our foster parent."
"Ohhh," Aveline just nodded.
"So, did I get admitted or not?" Del asked Mira.
"Of course, don't you worry about it. Getting this flower alone is quite a feat that can't be ignored. You might think this is a small favor, but this is quite an important task. You can join us as a honorary member. We usually have an initiation, but after some discussion with the others, you can just join straightly. Besides, your sister and I have a little bit of conversation after school."
"Oh, what did she tell?" Del was intrigued about the topic that both of them talked about behind him. He was suspicious about Anna. Del wasn't going to lie. He didn't trust Anna about a secretive agenda.
"She said the thing that we know. More or less, she was praising you all along. Still, when I arrived at the great snow land, I was disappointed when I didn't see you. Still, what matters is that you get the flower for us."
"That's all?" Del asked.
"That's all."
Anna could keep a secret then. It was good. She was more reliable than what Del previously expected, especially after the nuke incident. If this continued, his sister might become much more stable, and as a result, would be much controllable in the future. Everything needed assessment first though.
"TMV, what is TMV?" Del asked Mira.
"Teenage Medical Volunteer. We are an organization established to help the youth in understanding more about the importance of voluntary medical service to the society while providing medical service to those who are in need," Mira explained the long explanation for Del although he preferred a short one to be entirely honest.
"So, you guys are doing the same thing as MSVI?" Del asked.
"Sort of. Unlike MSVI, we are not allowed to participate in volunteering in conflict zone or any dangerous zone in particular. We are only allowed to volunteer in poor zone, crime invested zone, or anything else that doesn't require us to be on stand by all the time with our rifle," Mira said.
"Long story short, they're a lesser version of their parental organization." Aveline cut the story short. Del didn't know why, he'd like to hear Mira's story. Or perhaps, there was another reason on why Aveline intervened. Mira might not stop once she told a story about TMV, but Del had no idea.
It didn't matter though. As long as he became the member of TMV, he had an extracurricular activity on that school that should be enough to expand his friendship circle further. Anna already had her own circle in the post-school combat class while Del didn't have one.
Even though there were only there for three days, Del had heard the rumor about her sister. Her sister was a fresh gossip in that school, mainly because she somehow became very close to Aveline. So close in fact, that someone had created a rumor that Anna was Aveline's long lost relative. The worst gossip was his sister was a bastard daughter of Aveline's parents.
How could Anna be Aveline's relative, she was not even born in that world. Well, it was just rumors. It only needed to be corrected once it went too far. The good news was Anna was appointed to become a member of the student council in the security division alongside with several member of the combat-oriented class.
Del knew it because Anna told him once he got back from the great snow land with the white flower. She told Del that Aveline invited her to the security division. Of course, Walter immediately gave his approval since any investigation wouldn't be questioned by anyone since Anna would be the part of security division.
Del was skeptical though. What was the job of the security division in the first place? Was that the place where the brutes and the talented mages gathered to handle the security inside of the school? It made sense though. Del doubted that a regular police force would have an easy time against mages and riflemen that wanted to eliminate any threat in any way possible.
There might be a special unit standing by in case the academy got attacked, but as for the internal security, the security division and the teachers might be a larger part in comparison to the police force in Sneggor. After all, they had a more direct connection to the students in comparison to the regular police force. Intelligence was their advantage after all.
Think about it this way, the police force was like the battering ram and the troublemakers were the doors. The police wouldn't have too much idea on who the troublemakers were, but the security division and the teachers would be able to do that easily. Overall, it was just another symbiosis.
"By the way, Aveline, I heard rumors about my sister and you. We've only been here for three days, and that was included the first day we entered the school not as a student, but as a mere visitor. Are we really that interesting to be talked about?" Del asked.
"Well… the rumor about you and your sister have spread even before you two come to Lumbart Academy. You see, some students from the other classes noticed that a transfer student will come to our school. At first, we were disinterested about the issue, but your background was certainly intriguing."
"Intriguing? How so?" Del asked.
"You see, the son of the principal can't keep his mouth shut about any secret that he heard. He heard from the principal that the two transfer students are former contractors for Ilbistirum Military. Of course, the combat-oriented students were the most ecstatic about it. They finally had more friends to join their little gang."
"Go on."
"However, since Anna was the only one that entered the combat-oriented class, she almost became the prima-donna of the combat-oriented class. She has great marksmanship, credible experiences, and scary aspects. All in all, she was perfect for the combat class," Aveline explained.
"Basically, you're telling me that my sister becomes some sort of idol in just three days?" Del asked.
"I don't like it if you put it that way, but yeah, that's the real case. There are only twenty combat-oriented students in the whole academy and only three of them are girls, including your sister. It comes with an advantage though, your sister and the other two girls have bodyguards consisted of seventeen people who had their own fair share of combat training."
Anna just smirked when she heard Aveline's explanation. That smirk felt mocking him. It was like she showed him that she stole the spotlight again from Del. It was no big deal though. Del didn't want to be the center of the attention. Just let Anna get most of the attention, it was better for him.
"Damn, sis, they don't even know your face, and yet, they treat you like some kind of princess," Del said.
"I smell some jealousy here," Adam commented. Del just pinched him in annoyance.
"Anyway, about TMV, what is the usual agenda?" Del asked.
"We usually train. Thrice a week, we usually volunteer to help the slumps of Sneggor by cooking food and providing medical attention," Mira answered.
"What's today's agenda?" Del asked.
"It's volunteering. We will go to the town at three. You should join us, it should be very fun. Do you want to tag along, Del?" Mira asked.
"Sure, I'd love to do that. Is there anything that I must prepare before I participate? Or I can just go to the TMV building once the after-school bell rang?"
"You can just wait there once the bell rang, but I suggest for you to go home first and get a shirt that you can sacrifice. We usually get dirty in the slump.. Anyway, that's all from me, I'll see you later on the TMV building."
