Chapter 126 - First Class
It was not even a day, and Del had gotten something unpleasant in his ears. For him, a rumor about a student capable of killing anyone with a rifle was bad news. Aveline was the class representative, and she was indeed quite reputable, but he didn't think she would be 'that' reputable.
"Has Aveline killed someone before?" Del wanted to confirm his suspicion.
"She has, why do you ask?"
"SHE WHAT?"
Del might have destroyed a company of tanks, eliminating the chain of commands in the Federal front, and retrieving several documents from a poisoned gassed town, but this was a regular school setting. He wanted every single bit of normality that he could get in Lumbart Academy. He knew it would be the last chance for him.
"Yeah, I remember she slaughtered an entire wave of monster with her magic and her rifle. It was a long time ago though, but it still sticks with her until now. If you consider this a plus point, she has wiped out an entire opponent from another academy on her own once," Adam explained.
"Say what?" Del couldn't believe it.
"Yeah, there was a tournament once every one year. She aced it when we fought another academy from another town. I have to say that she is more than capable of becoming a one-man-army."
It must be noted down. Aveline was a potential hazardous threat that needed to be put down if the need arose. She might be equal in fighting power to Anna, if not more. Both were girls who were involved in conflicts of some sort. Though, Anna has definitely had an edge in the term of insanity.
Del didn't know Aveline, but Anna could be the craziest bloodthirsty bounty hunter that had ever lived in certain situations that involved getting money or getting closer to Eric. He still remembered the demand for a nuke. It was how far Anna would go to waste her own enemy. Del was certain both of them would be a great team. One was insane, while the other was reputable.
Del peeked at Anna again. "Holy…" People were following Anna and Aveline from behind like a pack of surrounding ants. Anna got the spare attention from Aveline as well, especially since her appearance quite stood out too.
Del wouldn't lie, but Anna's bandage definitely gave a "don't mess with me" vibe to anyone that saw her. It really inferred that she had gone through battlefields on her entire life. It was only less than a year, but they felt that they have changed a lot. Several boys were shuddering when Anna looked at threm through the slit on her bandage that exposed her eyes and the charred black skin between those eyes.
If it wasn't his own sister, Del would become very afraid as well. It was very unusual for a person to see someone with her own body covered entirely with white bandages. Still, Aveline seemed really happy with the ordeal. After all, once Anna glanced at a boy, the boy would immediately run away from her.
Even, Adam commented, "Dude, is your sister that intimidating, or is it just me?"
"Nah, it's probably just you. I really don't feel anything about her because I have seen an even scarier look from her. Let's just say that I know what you don't know about her because I'm her brother."
"I see," Adam nodded.
"Anyway, Adam, about Aveline, is she a daughter of someone of importance? I get a vibe that is telling me that she is one of the daughters of the government officials. Is my feeling true?" Del wanted to confirm that.
"Yes and No. She was not from around here, but she entered the academy at relatively the same time as I did. There was nothing special about her. She was just an ordinary girl living with her parents that own a restaurant on the city. She's just as normal as you or me," Adam explained.
Del just nodded as they walked faster to the classroom. The clock showed that it was fifteen minutes left until the first class started. He didn't want to get late to his first class after all. The class was on the second floor, thankfully. He didn't have to climb the stairs just to reach the class. He put his backpack on the chair and his rifle on the side of the chair.
There was a small place to store his rifle magazines right below of the table. He put two magazines of 5.45 rounds on that place so he could immediately used the rifle once the need arose. He sat down right next to Adam.
While waiting for the bell to ring and the next teacher to enter, Del prepared himself to introduce himself. If it was earth, he didn't need any preparation, he could just throw his birthday date, his hobby, his former school, his origin, etc. But now, several details were better left unknown.
He could say his name, but he certainly couldn't mention his birthplace on earth. He might only be able to explain his status as a refugee by saying that he was coming from Elbanian. He should manipulate his birthday too, this world wouldn't have reached the 21st century. He couldn't say his real birth age.
"Yo man, what are you thinking about?" Adam asked, politely.
"Something about introducing myself, I'm kinda nervous, you know?" Del commented.
"Don't be nervous, we have your back," a student behind him replied. He just rose his thumb to Del. He looked not that different from Adam, with the exception of his brown hair. Could it be that this person was Adam's brother.
"Yeah, relax," Adam said.
Del turned his head around to get a better look at the brown-haired guy that just supported him. "What's your name? You look so similar to Adam, I'm not going to lie," Del commented. He wasn't wrong though, he looked really similar.
"My name is Lenz, I'm Adam's friend. What else? I'm a smart troublemaker and a little bit of smooth talker," Lenz said.
"This is Lenz, he is our womanizer. Basically, we call him the harem king due to the amount of girls that he has. And yet, she never want to share his girls to us, poor peasant." Adam put a fake sad emotion to mock Lenz. Lenz just laughed.
"Nice to meet you Lenz, my name's Del."
The bell eventually rang. The students that were hanging outside of the classroom entered the classroom again and sit down while waiting for the first teacher to come. The first subject was none other than magical engineering, it wouldn't be too boring with Del since he never ever saw magic in his previous life.
The teacher knocked on the door and entered the room. The teacher was old, really old, the very old kind of old. He was the absolute stereotype of a wizard could be. His hair was all white, he had a long white beard, and he was holding a grimoire alongside with a staff.
"Good morning everyone, may I get your attention please?" He said. His voice was rather smooth, much like when someone grandfather was talking to their grandson, Del felt like that about the teacher.
The teacher continued by explaining to the class that they would have two new transfer students. Of course, the students had already known that, the teacher only said so just for the sake of formality. The first student that was called to introduce himself was none other than Del.
The students clapped their hands once Del walked to the front of the classroom. HE was thinking before introducing his own life. He couldn't screw this up, or he would be questioned many times by the other students about his origin.
"Hello, my name is Del Moore, I was born in 1928. My hobby is shooting and drinking hot coffee. I am 17 at the moment, just the same as my sister right there. I was originated from Elbanian Kingdom and moved here as a refugee, I think that's all for me."
The students clapped their hands again and Del returned to his chair and took a deep breath. He managed to succeed, hopefully, Anna managed to do the same thing. The introduction was more or less the same as Del, but her hobby was much more, let's say, crazier. Nah, she didn't tell the class that she liked killing people, but she told the class that she loved military exercise that involved live rounds.
The whole class dropped their jaws while Del just smiled in both dissapointment and confusion on why Anna introduced herself like that. The grandpa didn't bother too much about it though. He let Anna to sit down again and they continued their magical lesson.
Since Anna and Del didn't know too much about magical programming, they were inept at first.. However, they picked up the pace quite quicker than the other since they had used their magical programs in the battlefield where every second mattered.
