Chapter 818 - Awakening Warriors in the Future
Chapter 818: Awakening Warriors in the Future
Qin Feng had read about the scenery on earth before the end-times from some ancient literature. This place looked just like how he had imagined it—an undisturbed natural grassland with its own unique food chain.
Ability or ancient art was non-existent. There was simply just pure strength here generated from the most primitive motor—muscle.
‘This place should be full of energy but for some unknown reason, it has been tamed and locked up. But relying on brute force alone ain’t that bad.’
The explosiveness of the beasts living here should not be underestimated. More importantly, their meats were a source of power that allowed its consumer to be awakened.
That was such an alluring feature.
Shwaff!
Qin Feng spread the glider on his back and leaped down.
He glided through the air like a giant bird. He turned his head back to have a better view of the waterfall.
At its broadest, the waterfall once spanned about four hundred meters wide. A large surface that was once scoured by the running water had now been laid bare, with polished stones that were seen lining vertically along the cliff. Qin Feng’s sight traced down the waterfall and found a cave about three meters above the ground. The cave entrance was ten-meter-wide but it was too dark to make out the interior.
Before Qin Feng could approach the cave, the unicorns underneath had noticed him first.
Though the beasts appeared tamed and were most likely herbivores, it did not mean they would not react to a potential threat that had just entered their comfort zone.
The first thing that came into the beasts’ minds when they saw Qin Feng was to chase him away from their water source.
As such, they began to gallop in parallel to Qin Feng while humming angrily, warning Qin Feng that he was not welcomed into their territory.
Yet, despite the taunt, Qin Feng ignored them and landed on the other side of the pool. That was a form of provocation to the beasts.
Neigh!
The few unicorns did not sound pleased. They thrusted explosively to skip on a few boulders agilely before landing hauntingly in front of Qin Feng.
One of the leading beasts then bowed its heads to have the horn aimed straight at Qin Feng. Without a second warning, the unicorn charged at Qin Feng fiercely. The pointed horn would have no trouble puncturing through an ordinary human frame.
Qin Feng retracted his glider and side-stepped the incoming unicorn. In a split second, the Verdant Emperor Saber had appeared in his hand and fell right at the unicorn’s neck.
Poof!
The slaying motion beheaded the snowy unicorn. Its white fur was quickly tainted by the out-gushing red. The head dropped to the ground and spilled more blood, staining the stones around the ground a velvet red.
The scent of the blood startled the entire herd. The eyes of the surrounding unicorns were filled with vengeful bloodshot. They charged simultaneously at Qin Feng.
The unicorns must avenge their kin!
Crack!
Temper was flaring high among the herd, evident by the shattered rocks as the unicorns bolted through them.
As they approached, one unicorn used the forward momentum to swing its back leg against Qin Feng.
But Qin Feng’s saber had reached for its legs a tad faster.
Chop! Chop!
The two hoofs were amputated, followed by a swift decapitation.
Qin Feng set into motion.
He was used to a physical fight. His physique was comparable to a B5-tier parallel-trained ancient warrior. His body strength even surpassed that of a beast emperor. Thus, Qin Feng was not intimidated by the beasts since he could easily overpower them.
Qin Feng needed only ten-plus minutes to annihilate the entire herd of unicorns. Not even the beast king could have Qin Feng’s mercy.
Blood was all over the stone. It slowly seeped into the water and turned the glassy pond murky.
With the entrance of Qin Feng, this water would hardly be cleansed in the foreseeable future.
Qin Feng surveyed his surroundings and decided to start with the cave he noticed earlier.
The cave was modest in size. It was only three-meter-high and had an uneven structure, which suggested that it was formed naturally. Qin Feng reached the rear of the cave after about fifty meters in. There was a half-a-meter wide opening in there, which Qin Feng believed would lead to underground water.
Qin Feng carved out a stone with his Verdant Saber to block the entrance. Then, he picked an area that was considered the smoothest.
‘This place will do.’ The cave was the most suitable location he had come across the past three days to carry out his experiment.
Qin Feng opened his bag and took out a few silver stones—Spatial Runic Stones.
But these stones showed little sign of potency in this dimension.
Qin Feng returned outside and carried in the D-tier beast king’s carcass on his shoulder.
The unicorn’s blood was dripped onto the spatial stones.
This world had a similar energy field just like on earth, after all. But it had been consumed and stored inside the beasts around here. Qin Feng believed all of the creatures in this dimension had the runic energy bound to their flesh and blood.
If Qin Feng’s act was seen in his world, the observer would think that Qin Feng was performing some sort of evil ritual that required a blood sacrifice.
At the same time, Bai Li, who had been resting in their original dimension while waiting for Qin Feng’s call, opened her eyes abruptly.
A silver gleam surrounded her and she was gone the next moment. Her figure re-emerged in the bunker underneath Fenghuang colony.
The guard in there corrected their posture subtly when they saw Bai Li enter and saluted her.
“Ms. Bai.”
“Order the men to gather at Hall 0.”
“Understood.”
Bai Li strode toward Hall 0 first after giving the order. It was tightly sealed at the moment and had not been opened ever since Bai Li had left three days ago.
Bai Li unlocked the front door and the spacious Hall 0 immediately came into her sight. In the middle of it, several silver stones were radiating their gleams silently.
These stones were embedded in an orderly fashion inside a three-meter-high and five-meter-wide rectangle.
Something was clearly missing from the center of the rectangle plate. There was an indentation there, which would fit a stone of similar shape to another spatial stone.
Bai Li reached her hand out and a spatial stone slowly materialized on his palm. She infused the stone with her consciousness to mark down the spatial coordinates, then pushed the stone into the indentation.
The move activated the door and sprang it open.
The silver light around the door was contrasted by the endless darkness it had opened up to.
The spatial tunnel was completed.
At the same time, the groups that Bai Li had requested earlier had also assembled inside the hall.
The leader was Wang Chen’s brother, Wang Cheng.
“Have your men carry these things over. He will know what to do with it.”
Bai Li waved her hand and a few pillars appeared out of thin air. The pillars actually worked in the same principle as the rectangle plate. Even the spatial stones embedded in it were the same. If someone probed it with their consciousness, then they would realize the spatial coordinates carved on the pillar led back to this same Hall 0 under Fenghuang.
“Yes, Ms. Bai!”
Wang Cheng led the one hundred men, along with the stone pillars, through the tunnel without any hesitation.
They had been trained rigorously the past three days to prepare them for this moment. Even if they were not entirely prepared, they still had Qin Feng on the other side to guide them.
Inside the Fettered Land, Qin Feng watched on as a hundred men walked out from the spatial tunnel.
“President, unawakened prospects, Troop 1, are here to report for duty.” Wang Cheng announced spiritedly.
Everyone put down their belongings and lined up uniformly.
These peoples displayed unwavering eyes. They did not know what the future held for them, but they all had a passionate optimism about it.
