Chapter 237
237 Venting Her Sadness
After a twenty minutes drive, Zhang Li Xue and Fang Su Jin finally arrived at Bai Xi Xi’s kindergarten.
Fang Su Jin looked at the kindergarten building and heaved a sigh. “Li Xue, I suddenly recalled how we met at the kindergarten. We became close because we were desk mates.”
Zhang Li Xue smiled as the memory came to her.
The two friends stood side by side and Fang Su Jin nudged her friend in the arms. “Li Xue, is this alright? It seemed that by staying with Doctor Bai, you have become a child’s guardian. With Doctor Bai’s little sister around, would you even have time to properly date him?”
“Don’t talk nonsense. Xi Xi is such an adorable child and sensible child. She’s mature for her age. Even with her around, it would not change my relationship with Bai Qi.”
Fang Su Jin stared at her friend for a few seconds longer. “I think this is good too. At least, you could take this as your practice to raise a child.”
The corner of her lips twitched. Zhang Li Xue decided to ignore her friend’s nonsense and waved her hand. “Come on. Let’s go.”
Zhang Li Xue spoke to the guard briefly before she was permitted to go into the building.
A few months ago, she visited this place to attend the parent’s and teacher’s meetings. Zhang Li Xue followed her memory and finally arrived at Bai Xi Xi’s classroom.
.....
She knocked on the door and the teacher walked over to greet her. “You are Miss Zhang?”
Zhang Li Xue nodded.
Teacher Jia smiled. “Then, please come with me. Yan Ning’s parents are with the headmaster.”
Zhang Li Xue exchanged glances with Fang Su Jin. Then, she followed the classroom teacher to head over to the headmaster’s room. “Teacher Jia, do you know the reason they got into a fight?”
Knowing the sweet girl, Zhang Li Xue did not believe that Bai Xi Xi would get into a fight without a reason. The girl was always very sensible. She would not do anything that would put her brother into trouble.
“This...” Teacher Jia hesitated. “It seemed that Yan Ning might have said something unpleasant to her. Although Yan Ning was at fault, Bai Xi Xi had slapped him hard. Miss Zhang, let me just give you a head up. The Yan family had a good relationship with the headmaster. It seemed that things would not be easy for you.”
“I understand. Teacher Jia, thank you for your reminder.”
The classroom teacher looked at Zhang Li Xue, wanting to tell her about the Yan family’s influence. However, seeing that the woman continued to stay calm, Teacher Jia could only swallow back the words she wanted to say.
After a while, they finally arrived at the headmaster’s room.
As they stood outside the room, Zhang Li Xue could hear the voices of the people inside.
There were several adults in the room and they were scolding someone.
In the background, the little girl’s sobs could be heard clearly.
They could already hear the Yan couple scolding Bai Xi Xi.
Hearing their words, Zhang Li Xue’s expression quickly turned ugly. Meanwhile, Teacher Jia’s face turned paler. Their words were too fierce for a little girl like Bai Xi Xi.
Without wasting her time, Zhang Li Xue pushed the door and entered the room.
The adult’s expression froze. Each of them was wondering about this newcomer.
Zhang Li Xue scanned the room and finally, her gaze fell on Bai Xi Xi. The little girl had her lips pursed tightly and tears streamed down her cheek.
She was trying very hard to suppress her cry.
However, the moment she saw Zhang Li Xue, Bai Xi Xi opened her mouth and started to cry very hard. “Pretty Sister.” She called between her sobs.
The headmaster turned to the classroom teacher and frowned. “Teacher Jia. What is going on? How can you let someone enter the room without knocking?”
Teacher Jia looked at everyone in the room with a complicated look in her eyes. “Headmaster, this is Miss Zhang, Bai Xi Xi’s guardian.”
The Yan couple exchanged a look with the headmaster. Once they understood what happened, they turned to Zhang Li Xue with unhappy looks on their faces.
Meanwhile, Zhang Li Xue was not paying attention to the others. She was focusing to coax the crying Bai Xi Xi. Seeing that Bai Xi Xi’s face had turned red from crying made her heart ache.
Zhang Li Xue hugged the girl tightly as she whispered some comforting words.
Now that Bai Xi Xi found someone that she can rely on, she began to cry harder as if to vent her sadness.
Mrs. Yan gave Zhang Li Xue a look over and sneered. “It’s good that you are here,” Mrs. Yan spoke. “You are Bai Xi Xi’s guardian, right? Then, you have to explain what your child had done to my son.”
Zhang Li Xue glanced at the woman. She lifted Bai Xi Xi in her arms and let the little girl continue burying her face in her neck and crying.
Teacher Jia walked over to Zhang Li Xue timidly and spoke, “Miss Zhang, this is Yan Ning’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Yan.”
“Your child had slapped my son. Is this how you teach her?”
Zhang Li Xue lowered her head and whispered to Bai Xi Xi, “Xi Xi, did you hit someone?”
Bai Xi Xi pursed her lips. She raised her head and hesitated. After a while, she nodded. “But it’s only because Yan Ning was mocking me. He said that I am someone without parents.”
Bai Xi Xi would not mind these words. However, what hurt her the most was that Yan Ning had said that her parents did not love her.
Growing up, her brother would always remind her of how much her parents loved her. He had told her that when their parents were very happy when found out that her mother was pregnant with her. Her mother had worked hard to give birth to her because she loved her.
Hearing Yan Ning’s words made her sad.
She already knew that she did not have a mother or a father. However, Yan Ning did not have to remind her every day. Bai Xi Xi had enough of hearing those words almost every day that she could no longer suppress her anger.
