Chapter 162 Stop Resisting
Kyran's decision to confront the Quilin using brute force was not part of his plan. When he got forced to deal with the three mages from the Templar Code, he only wanted to help the Quilin. After helping it, he planned to communicate and ask for a piece of its horn as compensation. As to how he would accomplish that, he had no idea. Of course, he was aware the Quilin would not agree to give a piece of its horn immediately, so he planned to release the Cloaking Array by then, hoping that it would recognize his draconic aura and willingly listen to him.
However, Kyran did not expect the Quilin to lose its head after suffering from the attack of the three mages. It did not even see his action of helping it deal with the three mages. If it did, it would not have attacked him indiscriminately.
The situation suddenly became troublesome. After all, dealing with an epic-type beast on a rampage was not something a single person could handle.
Forced to decide on his next course of action in such limited time, Kyran chose to confront the Quilin while utilizing his Regis Blessing. He also released the Cloakin Array, thinking it might help the Quilin regain its rationality after recognizing his aura.
Unfortunately, the Quilin's anger did not diminish. Although it showed fear towards Kyran, it was only because his presence was simply scary and not because it recognized his draconic aura.
RAWRGH!
The Quilin roared as it stopped its head from getting thrown back completely. It glared at Kyran and opened its mouth, wanting to snap at him.
Seeing the Quilin pulled back its head while opening its mouth, Kyran clenched both his fists as silver energies gathered on his forearms.
The moment the Quilin's mouth drew close to him, Kyran punched both his fists forward, releasing the energies that had gathered on his forearms while aiming at the Quilin's mouth.
The silver energies shot straight at the Quilin's gaping mouth, and it hastily drew back to avoid it.
However, the silver energies already entered its mouth and exploded.
RAWRGH!
The Quilin roared in pain as it staggered backward.
Web-like cracks appeared on the ground where Kyran landed after attacking the Quilin consecutively. While he still wanted to continue suppressing it, unfortunately, he could not stay in midair. He could not fly after all.
RAWRGH!
After regaining its balance, the Quilin growled once more at Kyran. Its horn glowed, and white magic orbs appeared one after another around it. The orbs flew in different directions and shot out dark red beams at Kyran.
Kyran sighed. He had seen the Quilin use these orbs a few times and already had an idea of its attack power. If he compared the attack power of the ball of energy it released earlier to a snake's bite, these white magic orbs' would be akin to insect bites; itchy and annoying, but did not pose a threat.
With an indifferent expression, Kyran did not evade the incoming dark red beams.
As soon as the beams entered a one-meter radius around him, they collided with his silver scales. Each time a beam hit, the silver scales glinted.
One after another, small explosions erupted around Kyran, where the beams hit his silver scales and slowly filled the surrounding with a cloud of smoke.
It was at this moment that the Quilin seized the opportunity to escape. It turned and galloped towards the entrance of the shrine.
Inside the cloud of smoke, Kyran could not help but smile bitterly while watching the Quilin's retreat. Was it not supposed to have lost its rationality? How come it was decisive in retreating rather than confronting him? Or did it finally come to its senses after he beat it up?
"Don't go. We're not done here," Kyran said.
Although he spoke in a low voice, it carried enough strength to reach the Quilin's ears. After all, a beast's hearing was far better than a human's.
Without waiting for the Quilin to react, Kyran ignored the attacking white magic orbs and directly shot out from the cloud of smoke. He dashed toward the Quilin at speed impossible for the naked eye to follow.
Kyran abruptly stopped twenty meters away from the retreating Quilin. He stomped on the ground, which cracked from the sudden force, and jumped. Silver energy gathered from his left feet up to his calf as he somersaulted in midair and aimed a dropkick on the Quilin's back head.
The Quilin immediately sensed the ominous presence closing in. Instead of defending against a sneak attack, it doubled its speed and ran.
BAM!
Unfortunately, no matter how much the Quilin tried to speed up, it was not enough to escape from Kyran, who was currently using 100% of the Regis Blessing.
RAWRGH!
The Quilin roared in pain as Kyran's dropkick squarely hit the back of its head. It stumbled forward from the force, slamming headfirst on the ground.
Kyran landed on the ground with a soft thud.
The white magic orbs persistently followed him and shot out dark red beams from behind.
Ignoring these beams, Kyran jumped twice, landing on the Quilin's back then on its head.
When the Quilin sensed the ominous presence landing on its back and approached its head, it prepared to snarl. However, before it could move its head, the ominous presence simply hit the top of its head, which almost knocked it unconscious.
"Stop resisting," Kyran scowled at the Quilin as he landed on its snout.
Then he raised his left hand while looking at the approaching orbs. Purple rings appeared above his palm as streaks of purple beam shot out from the center and flew at the orbs. The purple beams effortlessly hit the orbs and disintegrated.
These beams were Kyran's newly formed attack. Since he saw the mages from the Templar Code and the Quilin shooting out beams of energies, he thought of trying it out with his Void magic. He did not try using the silver energy he could summon using Draconic magic because he felt these silver energies were too raw and hard to mold. Anyway, he did not have to worry about anyone sensing his magic signature while using void magic since there was only him and the Quilin around.
The Quilin's dark red reptilian eyes contracted when it saw the ominous presence shoot out the purple beams. It suddenly whimpered as it shivered in fear.
[The power of nothingness!]
'Hm?' Kyran frowned slightly after hearing the Quilin speak again.
He looked at the Quilin and asked, "You know about my magic?"
The Quilin's face distorted in surprise as it made a funny snort which Kyran guessed was equivalent to a human's gasp.
[Y-You can understand me?]
The Quilin asked, its eyes widening in disbelief.
Kyran gave it a dull expression.
"If I didn't I wouldn't have help you," he answered with a deadpan voice.
"Anyway. Since you're back to your senses, let's talk."
The Quilin's expression suddenly turned grim as it glared at him.
[Why should I? When you humans never—ow!]
Kyran smacked the Quilin's head before it could finish its sentence.
"Did you not hear what I just said? I helped you. Don't lump me with those people who were chasing you back there," he said in disdain.
The Quilin reached for its aching forehead with its front hooves while still glaring at him.
[Y-You dare to—!]
The Quilin abruptly stopped its complaint when Kyran raised his fist to hit its head.
Kyran sighed in his heart.
He was forced to intervene and help the Quilin because he wondered how the Quilin would react when he released the Cloaking Array and let it sense his Draconic Magic. However, he released the array some time ago, yet the Quilin did not react to his aura. Instead, it responded when he used his Void Magic.
He felt wrong for some reason.
Kyran pushed the thought at the back of his mind with a sigh and sat crossed-legged on the Quilin's snout.
His action immediately made the Quilin growled in contempt, but it did not make any attempt to get him off.
"You saw my magic just now so you should know I can kill you easily," Kyran started.
He stared straight at the Quilin's eyes as he spoke.
The Quilin did not reply and only continued to growl softly.
"So let's be civil here and talk. First of all, aren't you curious why I can understand you?"
Although the Quilin continued to growl, after Kyran asked his question, the expression on its eyes changed.
"Can't you feel anything? Like my aura for example?"
The Quilin stopped growling and fell silent as if contemplating his words.
Kyran did not push rush. He waited patiently for the Quilin to process the meaning behind his words.
After a few seconds, the Quilin's expression changed. Its eyes grew wide in disbelief.
[Impossible! How come you—no! It is impossible! You can't be—or... could it be...?]
Kyran could not help raising an eyebrow at the Quilin's words. But he did not comment on it and instead said, "Now are you willing to talk?"
The Quilin fell silent. It started at him for another minute before finally closing its eyes and heaving a sigh.
[You are the Dragon Lord. I am a mere servant to the Imperial Dragons. If you want to talk, who am I to refuse?]
Kyran raised his brows at the Quilin's words. It seemed although the Dragon Lord was human, they regarded him highly.
But he did not expect that this Quilin was a servant of the Imperial Dragons who was at the top among the dragon species. Based on the Quilin's color, it was still young, and now that there were no longer dragons, how did it end up as a servant?
"Unfortunately, I am not the Dragon Lord." Kyran admitted. Though it would be easier to deal with the Quilin if he agreed to be the Dragon Lord, he did not want to lie. Besides, being the Void Master's successor was more than enough for him. He did not want to be the Dragon Lord's successor as well.
[Impossible. You are the Dragon Lord. No matter how much you deny it, you cannot conceal the power the Dragon King had bestowed upon you.]
'Dragon King? Does it mean the dragon that my ancestor bonded with was the king of the dragons?' Kyran wondered in amazement.
"Let's not talk about that," he immediately dismissed his growing curiosity. He had to take care of his task first.
"I want a piece of your horn, will you give it to me?"
