Chapter 134 - Stick With Me
Kimmy yawned. She was so bored to death. She would sneak glances at Cain once in a while as she waited for him to finish his work. The doctor was on his desk, facing the laptop. He was currently working on the pile of documents on his desk
She didn't expect to have her own space inside his office since she thought that she should be at least working outside, beside his secretary, Janice.
??
'He probably wants to make sure that I am working,' she mused as she segregated the files Janice gave her. She felt sudden itchiness in her nostrils which caused her to sneeze. She looked at Cain, their eyes met so she smiled and whispered, "I'm sorry."
Since his face was void of emotions, she thought that she probably annoyed him for sneezing and bothered him at his work.
Cain's office was spacious, bigger than the size of her apartment. Well, that was to be expected since he is the CEO of Lewis Hospital. She admired how Cain grew up to be someone responsible and a doting son given that he grew up in a broken family. He basically has two fathers and yet unlike any rebellious son… he seemed mature and broad-minded.
She wondered… She paused. Her eyes widened, realizing where her inner thoughts were bringing her. Past is past so she must not dare think about the 'what ifs'!
She heaved a sigh as she bowed her head to stare at the paper in front of her. She just hoped that Cain had placed a small cubicle so that she could at least have her own privacy. She felt too conscious that Cain could see her openly like this.
As she stared at him, she could not help but study his every movement. He looked so manly in his seat, looking so sexy with his glasses as he focused on his work. She bet he would look even better without his eyeglass. She couldn't help but suddenly wonder if his eye color was blue or green. It looked like a combination of those two. She was unable to get a full view since she hadn't had a closer look at his face.
"Stop staring at me and get us lunch. Call for delivery. I prefer eating here rather than going out." Cain, without looking at her, spoke.
Kimmy's face went red in an instant. She could not believe he caught her! 'Did he have four eyes?!' she inwardly grunted.
"What food do you want? Meat? Vegetables? Anything with soup base or do you prefer dry food instead?" She asked since she did not know what to order for him.
Cain lifted his head to look at her and replied, "Write this on your notebook."
Janice gave her a notebook and a pen a while ago so she grabbed them and waited for what Cain would say.
"These are the dishes I prefer eating so you can order any of those anytime. Next time you decide what to order you can just pick something on the list." Cain started and began dictating to her his favorite dishes, even fruits, desserts, and drinks. He was practically not a picky eater but she would need to be careful since he has an allergy to peanuts.
"If you have further questions you can always ask me, Kimberly," Cain said.
"You're the only one who's calling me with my real name. Everyone calls me in my nickname Kimmy," she nonchalantly voiced out.
"You don't like it?" Cain asked.
Kimmy shook her head and replied, " Well, it's not that I don't like it, I just prefer being called Kimmy though."
"Then I will keep calling you Kimberly," Cain snorted.
"Why bother to ask then, if I like it or not?" Kimmy scoffed with a pout.
"I prefer to do things you don't like the most," Cain retorted with a wink, making her stop breathing for a while.
'That was just so damn adorable!' she mused but then twitched her face next since she knew Cain was being sarcastic about it. As he was to go back to his work again, Kimmy recalled to request, "Can I have a cubicle? I mean, staying here like this feels so weird. I can't even yawn properly."
Cain tore his gaze from his laptop back to hers. "A cubicle?" Cain whispered with an arched brow.
"Yes, please? Privacy is very important to me. Or maybe it's better if I can just stay outside, beside Janice's table perhaps? I mean, aren't you uncomfortable that I'm here, invading your space and privacy?" she questioned.
"No, it's okay with me. The more you're uncomfortable then the better…" Cain said with a grimace. Kimmy crumpled her face, she could tell that he was playing with her and he was obviously having fun in bullying her like this.
"Fine, I will just do whatever I want then. Don't complain if I distracted you from work later," Kimmy mumbled, not looking at him but instead, she began typing on her laptop to search for the contact of the food delivery.
Cain was listening as Kimmy placed her order on the telephone. His forehead creased as he listened to her order. "Excuse me."
Kimmy held the line to look at him and asked, "what? You don't like what I picked?"
"Aren't you going to eat? Why order just for one person?" Cain asked, his brows colliding.
"Oh, I plan to go out and eat lunch with friends," Kimmy answered with a smile.
He raised a brow. "Who said you can eat out? Didn't I make myself clear that you will need to stick with me? Order your food and we will eat here together."
Kimmy decided not to debate with him since the person she was talking to was still on the line. She ordered food for herself as well and once she was done, she ended the call and looked at Cain with a scowl. "Do you even plan to give me a day off huh?"
"None. Unless you want to do it for 6 months then I am willing to give you a weekend day-off," Cain plainly answered, his eyes on his laptop.
"Tsk! Fine! No day-off! I'll stick with you! Good thing I still have the night to enjoy my life with. I guess I will just have a nightlife!" Kimmy whined.
"Who said you have the night to enjoy? You need to stick with me at all times, meaning… day and night."
"What!!!??" Kimmy burst, her nose flaring.
