I’ll Be the Male Leads Sister-in-Law

Chapter 401

Mu Mingtang suddenly became curious and said, “I heard that your blades are very heavy. I want to see how heavy they are.”

Many people have had such curiosity before, so Xie Xuanchen was not surprised as he strode towards Mu Mingtang. Now that it was autumn, the ground was covered with golden, fallen leaves. Xie Xuanchen stopped in front of Mu Mingtang. He was standing in the courtyard whilst Mu Mingtang was sitting sideways on the railing. He then spread out his hand, holding the blade in one hand and said, “I won’t let go, so you can hold it and try.”

The fallen leaves on the side of the corridor rustled and swirled gently in the air. Mu Mingtang eagerly grasped the handle of the knife and she felt it as soon as she came in contact with it.

It was a weight that she definitely couldn’t bear.

Mu Mingtang felt the weight of it just by holding the handle of the blade, but Xie Xuanchen was holding onto it with one hand and wasn’t the slightest bit affected at all. Though Mu Mingtang was a woman, she was a little jealous at the moment, “Aren’t you tired?”

When Xie Xuanchen heard it, he even portrayed a look of surprise on his face, “It’s not even that heavy, why would I be tired?”

Mu Mingtang didn’t want to talk anymore. She touched the handle of the knife again and reluctantly released it. Mu Mingtang understood that Xie Xuanchen’s frequent knife changes just now were to gradually familiarise his arms with the weight. Everything should be done in a step-by-step process as his body also needed some time to get accustomed to a routine.

Mu Mingtang’s curiosity was satisfied as she casually asked, “I’ve seen you use a sword several times. The sword is probably considered your special skill, right?”

Xie Xuanchen thought for a while before he shook his head, “It doesn’t count.”

“It doesn’t count?” Mu Mingtang was surprised and asked, “Then what are you best at?”

“I’m good at everything.”

Mu Mingtang held back her contempt and said helplessly, “I’m trying to ask you a serious question here.”

“It’s true,” Xie Xuanchen said, “I know every weapon. I can’t say which one I am the best at because I am good with all of them.”

Mu Mingtang’s eyes widened in surprise. She carefully looked at Xie Xuanchen’s expression and realised that he was not joking. Mu Mingtang was dubious, “Really? I’d believe you if you said that you have a couple of things that you are most apt in, but to be equally good in every weaponry must be a joke!”

Xie Xuanchen smiled slightly and said, “If you don’t believe me, let’s make a bet: you can point to any weapon and if I can’t satisfy you with any one of them, then I would lose. Otherwise, you would lose.”

Mu Mingtang thought that Xie Xuanchen really didn’t know how to properly make a business proposition. How could he just bet on something like this? The matter of winning or losing depended on the subjective conditions of Mu Mingtang’s opinions, so she was sure to win this bet.

Mu Mingtang was confident that she would be the winner, so she responded happily, “No problem. What are we betting?”

“You.”

When Mu Mingtang heard this, she was confused. How could you put a living person as a bet? Or, Xie Xuanchen wouldn’t be thinking of those kinds of thoughts, was he?

Perhaps he saw Mu Mingtang become startled for a moment because Xie Xuanchen changed his words graciously, “It’s okay if you want to replace the bet with me; I’m not picky.”

Indeed, Mu Mingtang was sure that she knew what he was thinking of.
