I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 643 - Disciple of the Evil God

The Republic of Korea was a mysterious country, considered by many of its denizens to be the foremost in the world spiritually. Nowadays, some Koreans even declared that all the gods appearing on Earth were ancestors revered by the Korean people.

This was a country almost ruled by an oligarchy, with capitalist conglomerates led by Samsung monopolizing politics and the economy. Class divisions were severe, making it nearly impossible for ordinary people to transcend their social status. The hierarchy, especially in various industries, was more formidable than in Japan, often witnessing incidents of mass suicides.

One incredible aspect of this country was that the office of the President of South Korea was a high-risk profession. Almost all former presidents faced difficulties after leaving office. The situation became even more peculiar as South Korea lacked full control over its military, with all military commands in American hands, raising questions about its sovereignty.

The upper echelons of the Republic of Korea were in chaos, with a proliferation of cults among the common people. Bizarre religious beliefs were widespread, and believers in cults were everywhere. In this era of mythological resurgence, it had become a breeding ground for all sorts of malevolent entities.

Lee Uijin was one of the beneficiaries of this chaotic situation in the Republic of Korea. Despite having only a middle school education, he possessed the remarkable ability to articulate and persuade. This skill alone could have granted him success in legitimate endeavors, such as sales, but he chose a crooked path.

Ten years ago, leveraging the national situation and his gift of gab, Lee Uijin founded an organization named the 'Christ New Century Church.' Exploiting the trend of money-making cults in South Korea using Christianity as a facade, he followed suit.

In the beginning, Lee Uijin was not proficient in his business. Preaching was not his strong suit. However, perhaps due to the fertile ground for cults in South Korea, his loosely fabricated doctrines managed to attract believers. Several middle-aged followers devoutly offered their entire wealth.

With gained experience, Lee Uijin became more ambitious, continuing to deceive people. With faithful followers, his 'con' became more straightforward. With his abilities and a bit of luck, the 'Christ New Century Church' expanded significantly. The devout followers were not few, and the majority were swindled out of their wealth. Young women and university students with good looks were also deceived under his guise as the church leader.

As his social status rose, Lee Uijin even managed to secure a position as a legislator.

Over the past ten years, the 'Christ New Century Church' had become a well-known cult in South Korea, involving not only ordinary citizens but also government officials, corporate executives, and students from famous universities. Lee Uijin reveled in this success, deceiving even the so-called intellectual elites despite having no educational background.

Lee Uijin particularly admired a close friend of a former president who, using the guise of religion, almost controlled the South Korean president, effectively becoming the puppeteer behind the scenes. Unfortunately, this friend of the president was ousted from the Blue House two years ago. The new leader, seemingly less inclined towards religion, shattered Lee Uijin's ambitions of manipulating the president and becoming the true power behind the scenes.

In the last two years, various extraordinary powers emerged, gods manifested, and cults sprouted like mushrooms in South Korea. Lee Uijin found himself thriving in this environment, and his cult expanded rapidly, becoming a colossal entity that couldn't be easily ignored.

However, Lee Uijin sometimes felt intense fear. His family knew the truth; he was a fraud and could never be a savior. He had no supernatural powers. In this age of true gods, he feared being casually crushed by a divine hand. He especially dreaded the true Christ since he had been deceiving people in Christ's name.

But this fear vanished a month ago.

A devoted follower named Park Jung-chul had sent him a parcel from overseas. Lee Uijin initially did not think much of it, but it turned out to be a precious ancient book.

In an era where countless people yearned for supernatural powers, exploring deep mountains and forests in search of hidden caves with hermits, Lee Uijin shared the same desire. His subordinates offered many ancient artifacts, but unfortunately, those were merely antiques with no extraordinary powers.

This book piqued Lee Uijin's interest. He consulted experts to translate the ancient Chinese within it. Like Park Jung-chul, he experimented with the first spell. When the resurrected mouse proved the potential of the book, Lee Uijin knew his chance for greatness had arrived.

He fantasized about sitting on the throne of the South Korean president, commanding all directions, even becoming the ruler of the Earth. In the end, this fantasy led him to believe he could become a true god, establishing the first and foremost superpower, the Republic of Korea.

Unlike Park Jung-chul, Lee Uijin had status and wealth in South Korea, along with a group of devout subordinates. He wanted to summon the various monsters recorded in the Seven Cryptical Books of Hsan.

Whether it was having his subordinates capture some homeless people or letting devout believers sacrifice themselves directly, he had countless methods of killing.

It took Park Jung-chul great effort to kill a few people, but Lee Uijin easily took away dozens of lives. After cultivating ghouls and using the longevity method introduced in the second volume of the book, he transformed his body into that of a ghoul, gaining strength, speed, longevity, and powerful regenerative abilities far beyond ordinary people. Lee Uijin completely lost his mind.

Although Lee Uijin, as a ghoul, couldn't reach the level of superhuman abilities like that elderly figure from China, his ghoul body was as tough as steel, impervious to ordinary firearms. At the same time, Lee Uijin became an undead being, and his human nature completely disappeared.

Using his position as a member of parliament and the title of the leader of the Christ New Century Church, he purchased a piece of land in the outskirts of Seoul. On the surface, he established a slaughterhouse, but in reality, the slaughter was not of livestock but of humans!

Lee Uijin, who had fallen into madness, became increasingly crazy. He was no longer cautious but, in large quantities, brought his believers or abducted ordinary people to the slaughterhouse, conducting sinister rituals inside. With the power of extensive blood sacrifices and the original text of the Seven Cryptical Books of Hsan, he truly summoned all the monsters except the one recorded in the seventh chapter, the 'Crawling Chaos'.

In the midst of his complete madness, Lee Uijin's consciousness had only one thought: he must summon 'Nyarlathotep'. This was the meaning of his life, his mission, regardless of how many lives he had to sacrifice.

Unbeknownst to him, he had already been influenced by the evil god and turned into a faithful disciple of the evil god!
