I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 503 - Immortal Old Monster

The huge dragon lowered its head.

It was a golden dragon that was four hundred meters long. Its scales were a bit dull in color, incomparable to the shining scales of a prime dragon. However, Louie was able to see that although the scales looked like they were rusting, their hardness was on a completely different level. It could even be comparable to a lesser divine weapon.

“A level 19 profession?”

Noticing the level of this dragon, even Louie let out a gasp.

This was already an incredible miracle.

There were many rules in the world of San Soliel such as rules on profession level, rules on godhood level, rules on divine power, rules on factions, and so on.

The most powerful and important ones were the rules related to the gods such as godhood level and divine authority origin.

The level of godhood measured how powerful a god was. On the other hand, divine authority origin was the most primitive form of authority that the ancient gods wielded. In ancient days, gods did not even need faith to wield their powers. They could just connect their divine authorities to the origin and use unlimited power. As a result, the gods could truly be called paramount.

However, with the changes in the world’s order, the gods were forced to utilize faith, resulting in their powers decreasing greatly. All the gods were now seeking to recapture the origin of divine authority so that they could transcend the limits and go beyond the godhood of level 20.

This was the relationship between godhood and divine authority.

The faction of the gods was the basis of the creation of the world. These were order and chaos. And just like yin and yang, they appeared in all things.

In this world of obscurity, the serpents of order and chaos were born. These two ‘serpents’ could be called the original creator gods. After creating the world, these serpents scattered, giving birth to all of creation as well as the original gods with Shae and Selune being the first two.

The power of order and chaos seemed to disappear without a trace. The evil part of chaos seemed to be related to the Will of the Abyss, but overall, these two powers had become the rules of factions that every being in the world needed to follow. The power of origin that Louie grasped was this very ancient power. As long as he could completely grasp it, he could become the god of gods and even exceed the original Shae and Selune in power.

Other than the rules of the gods, there were also special mortal rules, and one of them was the profession rank.

The emergence of professions like warriors, mages, and others could be attributed to the gods, but the development of the hierarchies within these professions had nothing to do with them. That stemmed from the world itself. This was also the biggest difference between San Soliel and Earth. Earth had external magic powers but wasn’t able to develop a root for supernatural powers.

Profession levels were actually divided into twenty levels, corresponding to the twenty levels of a godhood. However, people on the main continent only knew that there were nine levels.

The first nine levels were for mortals. When a mortal reached the tenth level, they would become legendary rank powerhouses. A person at the legendary rank would gain the foundation to withstand divinity. Some legendary rank powerhouses would absorb divinity, become divine creatures, and even become demigods.

But in truth, a demigod was already in the realm of gods. On the other hand, a legendary rank powerhouse could continue and develop their profession, but in general, only a few mortals had exceeded level 12. After all, only the gods had the time to spend on such endeavors.

Now that the gods had just ascended, only three of them had a profession of more than 12. Even the ancient gods had not reached level 20. Selune and Shae were also at most level 18. Gods like Sune were at level 14.

However, this dragon in front of Louie right now had reached a staggering 19. This did not mean that he could win against the gods, but the gods would have to pay a big price to kill him. If the gods were to give up on their divine authority and godhoods, none of them could even touch this primordial dragon.

Not only was this dragon’s profession high-leveled, but he was also a powerful ancient dragon.

This primordial dragon named Abdulfraizer could be considered one of the oldest hidden existences.

Facing such a primordial dragon, even Louie, as the Dragon God, paid his respects.

“Your Highness Abdulfraizer, your glorious light is something that even I have to feel shocked and admiration.”

Louie gave this dragon enough respect as if he was facing another god. This was not a comparison of strength between both sides. If they really fought, Louie could kill him even if he paid for the divine power of his incarnation. His real body would not really suffer from any harm.

This respect is mainly to praise this dragon for surviving the Era of Disaster and living until now.

This was a bona fide immortal old monster.

“Your Highness Louie, as the Dragon God, you don’t need to show such courtesy to me. It will make me feel ashamed.”

The primordial dragon spoke somewhat slowly as if his metabolism had all lowered. However, Louie found divinity within this dragon’s body. In other words, he was a divine creature whose flesh would never decay. He had simply lived for too long and was no longer very active in thinking.

“Lord Abdulfraizer!”

On the side, the Mythril King Heloise prostrated and expressed her respects to the huge dragon in front of her.

“Oh… are you… are you Heloise? The little silver dragon from back then has grown so big in the blink of an eye.”

The primordial dragon struggled to stare at her. After sizing Heloise up and sniffing her scent, her name finally dawned on him.

“It’s not a blink of an eye, Lord Abdulfraizer! Your time must have been left thousands of years ago in time!”

Heloise said, pouting and helpless. She acted like a childish little girl, but nowadays all dragons could be called children in front of this elder. Even Louie was the same.

But Louie could not show this because he had always displayed and given everyone the impression that he was a primordial dragon that had lived for more than 30,000 years. Luckily, this primordial dragon and even gods never suspected his age.

“Thousands of years ago… ah, time passes so quickly. The interval between my sleep is getting longer and longer.”

Abdulfraizer sighed.

Nothing was truly immortal, even the so-called immortal gods. They only have immortal bodies, but their spirits could be worn out over time.

Ancient creatures like Abdulfraizer would normally spend a long time sleeping. The intervals between their sleep would get longer and longer until one day, they would not wake up anymore until the world ended.

The only three gods in this world who had really lived for more than a million years were Selune, Shae, and Chauntea.

Selune and Shae relied on constant battles with each other to maintain their immortality and youthful minds. It could be said that these two sisters were symbiotic. Although they had intentions to completely suppress each other, they definitely did not have intentions to kill each other.

As twin goddesses, when one of them fell, the other one would gradually go into spiritual ‘aging’, just like Chauntea in the past.

In the past, Chauntea had already reached an old mental age to the point that her image became a gray-haired woman. Before the Terran Civilization's invasion, she had already been living in seclusion and was even looking for her successor. She never imagined that the invasion would cause heavy losses in the world of San Soliel which reawakened her sense of reason. It was because of this that she regained activity.

The reason why Chauntea was so active now and so fond of finding trouble with Louie was that she was relying on this to continue to stay active for herself to stay young.

As a result, Chauntea sought many goals with becoming the god of gods as one of them. It wasn’t that she needed to reach this goal, but she needed a goal to forever remain young and not turn old again.

Aged gods did not care about falling and dying, but young gods were afraid of death.

Another example was Sune who tried to communicate passionately and chaotically to keep herself vibrant and youthful.

‘Perhaps the only way to reach immortality in both body and spirit is to reach the realm of the God of Gods.’

Louie thought so. He did not understand the thoughts of the gods who had lived for tens of thousands of years, because he was very young in both spirit and body.

“The gods are all resurrected again. As expected, even the Era of Disaster could not really eliminate the gods. It’s a pity that Lord Five-colored Dragon God has fallen.”

The primordial dragon sighed, then he looked at Louie and curiously inquired, “I wonder if you can tell me Your Highness Louie, how did you get through that ancient epoch? Moreover, I don’t seem to have any impression of you in my memory.”
