Chapter 117: Different Personality
Chapter 117: Different Personality
Next morning, Ed and the rest left the pocket dimension. To make up for the Exp he didn't get from killing a floor boss, Ed had o put extra effort into hunting in this floor. Else, he could get thrashed by the floor boss. Luckily for him, Siegfried would be an excellent addition in battle.
"Let's go this way." Ed chose their direction while checking the Map. Most monsters seemed to be lone ones, but some of them seemed to live in packs. Ed chose quantity over quality. Even if one strong monster gave him a lot of Exp it doesn't compare to a hundred weak ones. There was also the Gacha ticket drop rate.
"What the!" A couple of meters away from his destination, Ed was surprised by a tree log flying in his direction. Ed and his companions immediately rushed ahead. Their enemy was looking to kill them, so obviously they couldn't stay away from them. Even though the terrain was difficult, Ed maneuvered around it as if it was an asphalt ground. No trees or rocks impeded him in his rush. As all seven of them were rushing, tree, rocks, and all sorts of things were thrown at them. Ed even noticed something brown, but he didn't want to think about it.
"I should have known." After reaching his enemies, Ed found out that they were Gorillas. Yet, Ed almost didn't recognize them. This group of Gorillas was huge. Huge was actually an understatement. The smallest one among them was bigger than Raikou. Their arms were muscular, explaining their ability to throw things at such a distance. But what surprised Ed the most was their eyesight. They were able to notice Ed's group from so far away.
"Please let me handle this. It'll be my first time fighting on your behalf." Before Ed and the rest could charge at their enemies, Siegfried stopped them. He seemed as if he wanted to prove his worth. Although Ed made sure to remind Siegfried to act in a casual way with him, he didn't comply. He didn't call Ed master anymore, but he was still acting in a respectful way. Ed couldn't help but chuckle in his mind.
Siegfried 'floated' towards the group of Gorillas. Ed made sure to scan them beforehand, and found out that all of them were Earth Establishment level 9. Killing all of them would certainly give Ed a good boost in his Exp. Currently, he was level 40(Earth Establishment level7) and needed a million Exp points to level up. This was the biggest jump in Exp he had ever encountered.
As Siegfried closed in on the Gorillas, they kept looking at him in a way that reminded Ed of a child and its new toy. Apparently, they couldn't tell the difference in power between them. Sieg stayed still in the midst of them. All of them seemed as if they were controlled by rage as they screamed and started attacking him. Some used their fists; some pulled up trees from their roots and hit him. More than ten of them attacked at once, yet not a single one managed to reach him. His barrier was restored along with his body after Ed turned him into a card.
"That esteemed person had to use his entire strength in order to break this barrier. You believe that, with your feeble abilities, you'll be able to do the same?" Sieg seemed to mock the Gorillas. 'That Esteemed person?' Ed couldn't help but question the way Sieg referred to him. First was master, now it was Esteemed person. He was afraid what new nicknames Sieg would be able to come up with.
"Lightning Bolt" Ed snapped out of his thought due to Sieg's voice. Several lightning bolts struck each one of the Gorillas. Thunder resounded in the jungle. "Ice Lance." Not giving them any chance to recover, Sieg used a second technique and impaled every one of them. The battle was over just like that.
Acquired Exp 15.000.
Acquired Exp 15.000.
Acquired Gacha ticket.
Acquired
A string of information flooded Ed. However, he was still happy. He got a good amount of Exp and even a Gacha ticket. He was close to having ten Gacha tickets, which meant that he would be drawing some more Gacha.
Ed continued to look for monster packs but was unable to find any that would satisfy him. 'Too bad' Ed thought to himself as he looked for a suitable spot. Almost half an hour later, Ed found an open ground suitable for camping and opened up a pocket dimension. Obviously, he was going to train since monsters weren't appearing. He explained to Sieg how they usually train and asked him to coach Suika and the others. He and Raikou did not need as much advice as the rest of them.
After setting up a gravity multiplier of fifteen times, all of them began their training. Ed was surprised to see that Sieg wasn't affected by the sudden change in gravity. The latter explained to him that Heavenly Establishment beings would be able to overcome gravity using their QI. That was how they were able to fly. However, the degree would change from an individual to another. Ed enjoyed himself while seeing Sieg try his best to give advice to the others. "You should focus more QI in that move. You shouldn't stop if your attack is dodged. You"
After finishing the training, Ed wanted to ask Sieg something. "When we first started fighting, you acted like a villain. What was that about?" Ed noticed that Sieg's true personality was a lot different than what he first showed.
"Oh that. That's a simple game I started doing whenever I'm summoned. It is funny to see people's reactions when I release my aura." Apparently, Sieg was a prankster.
"Oh yeah, I also want to try something. Stay still." Ed went behind Sieg and put his hands on his back. He was going to try and get Sieg to learn Nen. Unfortunately, his experiment failed.
"No need to feel sorry, Sir Ed. I'll make sure to power-up without needing this ability." Sieg comforted Ed after he explained to him what he was doing. Nen was the ability to change one's life energy to a special power. This meant that beings that are dead wouldn't be able to use it. Sieg was such a case. 'Sir Ed' Ed couldn't help but notice such a thing.
"Well, you're plenty strong right now. I guess the best I can do is help you come up with new abilities." The group took a bath together and slept. As Sieg didn't sleep, he kept looking at the 'sky'. For the first time since he knew life, a genuine smile was on his face.
