Chapter 155
155 Caught (1)
With Robus’ sudden, unexpected, and powerful movement, Blake’s body was easily thrown from his back as there was not much that Blake could do to secure himself so tight to Robus’ body with only his limbs.
Falling from Robus’ back, especially from only about 6 meters away from the ground was not anything dangerous to Blake’s body whose physique stat had reached 20, twice as fit as the fittest normal human athlete without using magic.
Blake could simply turn his body to face down and land on his two feet as if he was only lightly jumping from a slightly taller stool.
However, that wouldn’t be the case in his current position.
As he was thrown out from Robus’ back, Blake could clearly see with his two eyes how the flying humanoid demons’ fingers had already finished another two sets of runes that were aimed toward him.
Blake saw the two sets of runes that the flying humanoid demon drew and he quickly began to make his own countermeasures for the attacks that were coming toward him.
One of the sets of runes that the flying humanoid demon drew was yet another darkness bullet that Blake could simply defend against by drawing a simple darkness barrier or by moving his wings to glide slightly to the side.
However, the other set of runes was the one that made Blake’s mind turn into a chaotic mess as he tried to find a solution to his current problem.
The distance that he was currently falling from was only about 6 meters, not low enough that he could reach the ground in a split second, but not tall enough for him to glide away using his wings as he would then arrive at the ground slightly after a full second without being able to glide a considerable distance away.
.....
Tens of centimeters would be the most the glide would be able to achieve, and that still didn’t solve his problem of landing on the ground below him.
And the problem with arriving at the ground right under him was precisely because of the second spell that the flying humanoid demon had drawn beside the darkness bullet spell.
Blake still hadn’t thought of a way to avoid reaching the ground right below him, but a darkness bullet was already coming his way and his left hand was already casting the darkness barrier to keep the darkness bullet from making a hole in his body.
That means Blake was only left with one hand to draw runes and cast his spells.
And with his body that had already started falling to the ground, Blake knew that he needed to make the decision now as it would take the same amount of time for a single spell to manifest and for him to reach the ground below him.
‘Can I use the single darkness tendril spell and pull myself out of here?’
Blake then glanced at the ground below him, feeling the nether that had been cast by the flying humanoid demon had begun gathering on the ground below him.
‘No, the force of many darkness tendrils would be stronger than a single darkness tendril. I wouldn’t be able to get enough strength to get out of the darkness tendrils’ clutch with that.’
‘I need something that could generate much more momentum to break out of a darkness tendril binding spell...’
Blake then suddenly remembered a rune formation that he had made before that might possibly be able to achieve what he wanted and save himself from having to taste his own medicine of being caught in tens or dozens of darkness tendrils latching into his body.
Using just a split second to grab the wooden cube from his dimensional pouch, Blake planned to activate a rune formation that would manifest a 10-meter-tall earth pillar from the ground.
With the force of the pillar, Blake would bet that the earth pillar manifesting and protruding out of the ground would generate enough force to fight against the darkness-binding spell that the flying humanoid demon had cast to catch him.
‘This would probably hurt me even with the dark earth armor on, but it was better than getting caught.’
Blake was about to send his nether to the wooden cube in his hand before he suddenly felt the left side of his body had received so much force that he felt his ribs were about to break.
And along with such force being imposed on him, his little body flew away with such incredible speed that it only took a second for him to fly 10 meters away, crashing straight onto a tree that finally stopped the momentum of his body.
Blake’s head was dizzy from the sudden change of scenery and the violent movement from when his body was spinning in the air and he couldn’t figure out what had happened until his eyes went back to the flying humanoid demon’s direction.
In his place – or at the place where he was supposed to land, a large gorilla was found lying on the ground, with dozens of darkness tendrils latching onto the dark earth armor that covered the gorilla’s body.
And as if knowing the strength of the gorilla, the flying humanoid demon cast more darkness-binding spell, and one unknown spell that Blake hadn’t seen before.
The spells then soon manifested themselves as more darkness tendrils came from beneath Robus’ huge body and secured him even more to the ground.
Not stopping there, from four different directions, 4 man-sized pillars, fully made of darkness rose from the ground below before even more darkness tendrils came out from the top of the pillars.
Those darkness tendrils then proceeded to latch onto Robus’ four limbs, pulling the 4 limbs in 4 different directions, securing the gorilla’s captivity even more with the gorilla’s limbs unable to exert their optimal strength.
“1 down, 1 more to go,” The flying humanoid demon muttered as he nodded in satisfaction when he saw the incapacitated demonic beast.
But little did the flying humanoid demon expect that the one other target he wanted to catch would literally come flying towards him head-first, complete with the dark earth armor covering his whole body, and a huge momentum carried behind him.
