Chapter 52 - An Expert
After they rotated the monster's body, Ban immediately went towards its stomach. And just as he had initially expected, that part was flaming red.
Ban nodded his head and did not waste his time anymore. Using the knowledge he gained from the Book of Techniques, he traced the red mark and massaged it gently without using any kind of skill.
A while later, the body of the monster suddenly shivered, and not long after it stood up from the ground confused. It looked around and just as it was about to hop towards the young boy, its eyes suddenly bulged like a balloon as it threw up a greenish substance to the ground.
Ban stroked the back of the dog monster and massaged it without fear.
A while later, the dog calmed down. It realized that it was Ban who helped it and it could not help but rubbed its head on his legs in gratitude.
The crowd around them, especially the four men could not help but stare at the scene with wide eyes.
They looked at each other and all their eyes only screamed one thing, 'An Expert!'
Ban stroked the dog monster and could not help but smile under the mask. He felt elated that he managed to cure its state, he realized that even though he was not strong enough yet, he at least has something he can do that others could not.
Of course, he did not let it get to his mind, lest he got ahead of himself.
The crowd around clapped their hands enthusiastically as it was their first time seeing someone calm a frenzied monster quite easily.
Normally, if a frenzied monster was spotted, the people or Adventurers around can pin it down and hand it over to the city guard after they arrived. The city guard would then put the frenzied monster in a cage and let it rage there until it calmed down. After that, the owner could then claim it after paying a small amount of coins.
Of course, Ban knew of that from the Adventurers. There are even Adventurers that are no longer willing to help as they could gain nothing from it, and only the city guards have a share of the coins earned.
At this time, the young boy approached Ban and he could not hide his embarrassment earlier.
The greenish substance that the dog vomited has a huge piece of chocolate on it that was still not dissolved.
After seeing that, Ban already realized that the boy had lied to him before. It was either the boy purposely fed the dog monster chocolate, or he accidentally dropped it in the ground while eating and the dog ate it immediately before he could react. Either way, he lied to Ban and he was not happy about it.
He stared at the boy and raised his hand towards his face.
Ouch! Ouch!
The boy suddenly shrieked as Ban flicked his forehead quite hard. There was now a red mark on his forehead and the boy could only rub it to ease the pain.
"That's your punishment for lying!" He announced before turning around towards George in the distance who was also gaping in amazement.
The dog monster was about to follow him but a cold look from Eva managed to put it in place.
"What's your name, Miss?" One of the four people who helped pin down the monster suddenly asked before Ban could hop into the carriage.
Ban stopped for a moment before glancing towards the one who asked. "Call me Leon… and Mister, not Miss!"
He then proceeded towards the carriage along with George.
The one who asked nodded his head after hearing the name. He decided to etch it deeply into his mind, lest he forgets it. In fact, not only him but even his three friends and the crowd around them also etch the name Leon deep into their minds.
"Go!"
George ordered his Swift Snail to move forward and the crowd immediately made way for the carriage. At this moment, George did not know that by being the carriage driver of Leon, he would also get famous and be known throughout the city.
The carriage disappeared in the distance but the crowd still could not believe what had happened.
A while later, dozens of city guards arrived one after the other.
"Where's the frenzied Monster?"
The city guards looked around but aside from the crowd, they could not spot any monster that was in a frenzy.
The crowd could not help but frown at their late arrival.
"As always, the city guards always arrive late!"
"Tsk! They are paid for the job yet they are not doing it!"
"Hey, lower your voice or they will apprehend you for it!"
The crowd gossiped while they slowly dispersed, including the young boy and the four men who helped earlier.
Suddenly, the crowded street became barren of people aside from the bewildered city guards.
"It seems that it was a false report! Go and find the one who reported it and let them fine 5 Silver Coins for wasting our time." The city guard who has a higher rank than the rest frowned at the false reporter before turning around to leave.
The other Inner City Guards also frowned at this but they could no longer do anything about it other than to apprehend the one who reported the incident.
They slowly dispersed from the street one by one with a dejected expression.
Ban and George arrived at the Adventurers Market after a few minutes from the incident.
Fortunately, they did not encounter anything along the way and their little journey towards the market could be considered as uneventful.
"We're here, Sir Leon!" George declared after the carriage stopped at a huge gate.
Ban nodded his head before hopping off the carriage. "Lead the way, I am not familiar with this Adventurers Market!"
George nodded his head, "Alright, I'll park the carriage first!"
The carriages are forbidden to enter the Adventurers Market. The market is always crowded and it will even be more crowded if carriages are allowed inside.
After a while, George returned with a huge smile on his face.
"Follow me, Sir Leon!"
Ban nodded his head and followed closely behind him.
When they arrived near the gate, a loud shout suddenly echoed in their ears forcing them to stop on their tracks.
"STOP!"
