Chapter 488: Side chapter: imperial city eden

EDEN

Eden is the Imperial Capital of the Edenian Empire. It was once the Royal city of the fallen King of Vangua before transformed by the Emperor of Eden.

Standing majestically at the center is the Imperial Palace.

The churches could be seen in every district of the imperial city. The Emperor had invested a lot of gold into the Imperial city.

If Acro is known as trade hub and a place of knowledge, then the Imperial City is where the power of the Empire lies.

The administration. The central trade that connects the southernmost part of the Empire to the northernmost part.

And the villages outside the city walls is rapidly being developed as people began to yearn for the sophistication of a city life.

The quarry near the villages is being developed and more workers migrated to the Imperial City searching for wealth, fame and glory.

It was a new age of prosperity for the Human Continent even after the war the Emperor has waged.

The construction of barracks that once populated near the Imperial City is now being upgraded and the military structure becoming more standardized.

After the Massacre of Zettel, the soldiers were sent to guard the border between Eden and Great Renasia.

Stretching that border was a construction program rivaling that of the Bleeding Wall during the time of the Montblanc.

It is called the Great Wall.

Constructed to defend from the desert warriors of Renasia and any other enemies that wish to do the Empire harm.

Battlements, army post, tactical advantage has all been calculated and with the Orcs and Hill Giants that migrated to the Empire searching for work and making the bond between the Edenian Empire and Arakath better, these walls is quickly being built.

The Human Continent also prospers because of the stability between the political powers of the Human Continent.

It can be said, that there is only two overlords in the Human Continent.

Arial of House Vermont. And Rhyssa of House Renasi. The Sun Empress of the Great Desert. The Dragon Emperor.

The title of these two great rulers has long been popularized by troupes of moving performers.

For the Empress, the play would revolve around her military conquest, a woman in a world of men, living in the harsh desert and to add to the drama, was her love story in which most of these stories involves a great prince of some tribes or kingdom asking for her hand and end up rejected.

It is far from the truth but it sells among the peasants. Everyone loves a little drama. What's more, it is a royal drama, a kind of life that the peasant could only dream of.

For the Dragon Emperor, the play is various. There is the play about the rise of his family.

There is a play about his battle on the war of succession. There is a play about his battle for the Throne of Vangua. There is also a play about his Empress death.

But these two noble and powerful imperial houses have two different beginnings.

House of Vermont forged themselves from the fire of war and blood, while another was an ancient and brave House that has been standing since the formation of the First Empire in Human Continent.

The contention between these two great powers for a single unified continent was waged in many fronts, whether in the battlefield or propaganda.

And as such, any movement from these two rulers is akin to Heaven and Earth moves, their will moves millions of men and with one word, the world could be thrown to chaos once again.

Peace is hard to achieve and the people of Eden pray every day in the churches and in the temple that the union between the two rulers would be achieved successfully and without accidents.

The day the engagement were declared, the citizens were overjoyed, throwing flowers to the sky, giving thanks to the Lord Above.

Merchants began thinking of the possibility of a Great Trade route spanning the whole continent, as the guilds began conducting meetings and discussion all over the continent.

The common people wishes for peace and smiles at the end of hard day as they began to see the end of the Conquest of the Emperor.

Parents heaved a relieved breath, grateful that the Empire finally began to find stability and happy that they no longer have to send their children to the army

The Empire enemy gritted their teeth in anger seeing that the Imperial Family not only becoming more powerful but also solidified their position and ensures peace for all.

The Churches beginning to tolerate the infidels because of the growing power of the Imperial family who seems to be able to call wind and clouds at will.

While The Church is not happy with the new arrangements they have to accept or what happen in Freya might happen again.

Not to mention, the Empire is guarded by the Great Imperial Army

The Imperial Army is loyal, and one of the most well-disciplined army in the Human Continent

And those who went into the expedition on the west would have gained many advantages as they have seen and experience what it is like to fight wars with the Emperor.

It could be said, that the Hall of War worships the Emperor like a deity.

This kind of sentiments could not be understood unless you fight alongside the Emperor.

Why would they not worship a man who can make miracles as easy as flipping one hand? With one move killing thousands, with one step, flying to the sky, with one roar, charges through the battlement, peerless and undefeated?

To the army, their Emperor was the divine will of the God of War.

The Hall of War trains the army with the tactics they learned and Strategic division was formed and their job is to identify and analyze the opponent weakness and provide the tactical team the most efficient way to win a war.

And how does the Imperial Army is funded? Through the Hall of Gold able administration. And that is by encouraging trades and business to flourish.

The economy in Eden was prosperous with trades spanning the four continents and with standards of weight standardized and price of market imperially controlled, manipulations could be avoided.

The culture of Eden also seeped through the other regions of the Empire.

The Eden Empire comes from the culture of the Vermont's who appreciates art and expands their power not only through strength but also through culture.

With arts and sculpture and appreciation of exotic arts from other continent, the Imperial Family differentiated themselves as a fine connoisseur of art, refined, elegant and full of nobility.

The development of the villages is also done in a fast pace as cities began to form and people standard of living becomes more improved.

And as people have peace and become prosperous, the funds of the Imperial Family become staggering amounts.

With all the loots and gold that the Emperor has, it is no doubt that he is not only the wealthiest man in the continent; it is not an exaggeration to say that he is the wealthiest man in the whole world.

No other man has controlled trade and gold and has as much influence or power in his hand before.

Even the other kings and sovereigns of other nations, had to listen to their advisors and engage in court politics and fear the threats of other nations but to the Emperor of Eden, he was the Sky and the Sun of the Human Continent.

Courtly politic is not something he engaged in.

The laws mean nothing for him since he is the law. He is the Empire. This is the meaning of a true Emperor.

To control everything under the heavens.

Eden changes every day. Stall opened, shops opened, Trade Company opened, branches of some merchant family settle in the imperial city and Eden is constantly expanding.

More gold is poured to Eden than any other region in all of the Empire.

Arial founded a kingdom of brick and transformed it into a golden marble.

Eden comprehended the fairest part of the most fertile land in all of the human continent, and brought with it its high culture, their civilized knowledge and introduce the pursuit of intellectual height.

Its frontier is guarded by renown and valour.

Its seas were protected from pirates by their fearsome navies, their enemies on land had to face the best armed force the world could offer.

Generally undefeated, so much so it is claimed that no other army could in the long term resist the might of Edenian military, relentless, unflinching, and genuinely invincible.

Edenian generals can be outwitted, but in the terms of army there is no one that could resist in the long term.

It's an Empire of laws.

The influence of Edenian culture which comes from the Arrandian part of the region cemented the union of the conquered Kingdoms to the Empire.

The peaceful inhabitants enjoyed wealth and luxury and the Empire is constantly expanding at a rate that is shocking, and pervades in every single part of the region of the Empire.

The people in Vangua began dressing like their Arrandian counterpart, the people of the north began appreciating arts and fine culture while the people of the West began recovering from the War and began assimilating themselves with the people of the Empire.

Cultural and technology augmented economic development so a considerable amount of gold was accumulated.

As the Empire grew richer, the Imperial family grew even wealthier and even more powerful.

Corruption is controlled by the harsh laws imposed to those who embezzle the Empire expenditure.

All of their families will be executed.

Its taxes while not low, is not high either. The Imperial hall of Gold distributes its wealth using the taxes of the people of the Empire.

By imposing, residential tax, housing tax, sales tax, and merchant trade, tax on merchants and mercenaries group, land taxes, Mining taxes, the Department and Ministries enriches the main city of the empire.

Eden, Venicia in the region of Freya, Hangzhou on the Northern Region, Arrandy and other great cities of the region.

And to feed all the people in the Empire? The hall of gold expands the farmlands, clear new lands, offer incentive and benefits to those living in the cleared land, as villages formed around this new settlement.

By developing the farmlands the harvest is expected to be good and the yields can be used to feed the people of the Empire.

The Emperor had a long vision about his Empire.

Instead of using it for his luxuries, he would rather strengthen and enriches his empire and at the same time enriches his family.

The people are dedicated to farming or trade so business economic activity grew exponentially.

It was a golden age for Eden.

A powerful Emperor sitting on the throne, no threats from their neighbour, no great disaster befalling the kingdoms and no other threats other than Renasia and even that would be null when the marriage is finalized as the two great empires would be united.

But such golden age only come about after mountains of bones and sea of blood.

With war, the Empire grow strong, and now war is over, the Empire began to enrich and grab hold of the Kingdom and maintaining stability while their Emperor is lost without news.

The news of the Emperor disappearance at sea is not revealed to the common people, so life is normal for them.

But the nobles on the top have begun to plan and scheme as the whispers of war began to be spoken again.

The last time war was declared, the scholars said, 'Sea of blood flows through the frontiers, the Emperor insatiably expands the land.'

The parents of soldiers laments 'Death is for soldiers who sacrifice their lives, laurel is for the generals.'

And one statement this is true for the emperor, 'The Emperor emerges victorious, thousands of lives turn into dry bones.'

But when the dust of war settles, the people of the Empire receive the biggest benefit.

With citizenship laws enacted, the benefit of being a part of the empire as opposed to being its enemies was made apparent.

The common people rejoice, the scholars emerges, while the house of nobility suffers a decline.

Only a few remain powerful as they were before the War.

And today, as the gate of Eden opens again at dawn, people of all kind once again enter the great Imperial City, as merchant open their stalls, the commoner dreams of the future, the scholars began anew their pursuit of intellectual and happiness.

And as all of these kind of people begin to change, the world changes, step by step, guided by the will of the people, guided by their desires and hopes, dreams of a better tomorrow and slowly but surely move the wheel of history forward.
