Chapter 151 - 151 Ch. 151 The Calvins’ Visit (part 2)
151 Ch. 151 The Calvins’ Visit (part 2)
Richard glanced at his wife frequently, trying to find the right words to tell her without shocking her in vain. He could only curse himself for being so stupid as not to tell his wife two days ago.
At that time, he deliberately announced Harmonie’s arrival so his wife wouldn’t be too surprised. Then he broke the news of his parents’ arrival, and as he expected, his wife was not too happy about it.
Luckily everything went smoothly when both of them realized that there was a misunderstanding between Anxia and Stanley. He believed that after this, his family relationship would be better.
But...
The most important news that he forgot made Richard want to cry inside. He was too busy and excited to see the better family bond between his father and Anxia. After that, he was busy discussing possibilities with Raymond to comfort and entertain their brokenhearted sister to the point he didn’t remember telling Anxia about Raymond’s visit to their house.
Now he only remembered when the car had left for the airport making him feel he had dug his own grave.
Richard glanced back and forth at his wife, opening his mouth to say something and then closing it again. It went on like this until Anxia noticed her husband’s strange behavior.
“Richie, do you have something to tell me?”
Again Richard’s mouth opened to answer her, but no sound came out.
.....
How should he answer it?
Suddenly an imaginary bubble popped out of Richard’s brain as if he imagined what would happen.
‘Xia Xia, I forgot to tell you, Raymond and Michelle also came here with our family.’
Slap!
Richard shuddered at the thought of Anxia about to punch him in the face. Even if he could dodge, he wouldn’t escape because he deserved that girl’s death fist.
If Anxia were just an ordinary girl, Richard would not hesitate to receive a punch from her. But Anxia was not normal, and her fist punch was extraordinarily painful. Thus, Richard had to think of another word so that his wife would not immediately react to punching him.
Another imaginary image appeared as Richard had another idea.
‘Xia Xia, aren’t you interested in meeting our nephew?’
‘Which nephew?’
‘Just look at our nephew.’ Richard showed a cute photo of Eugene because he was sure that Anxia had never seen Eugene’s face, so he wanted to make his wife feel affection for that handsome and cute toddler.
‘Which nephew? To my knowledge, Harmonie has not married or given birth to a child.’ Suddenly Anxia grabbed his phone and threw it out the window before being crushed by other passing cars.
Richard shook his head, getting rid of the imaginary bubble above his head.
He didn’t feel sorry for the phone that his wife was about to throw away, but he still didn’t have enough courage to face her tantrum.
“Richie? Are you okay? You’re sweating.”
Richard swallowed hard when he felt Anxia wiping the sweat off his forehead with a tissue.
Is this what it feels like to be a husband afraid of his wife? Why did he feel he had made a big mistake and feared his wife would punish him?
“Really, what are you thinking about?” Anxia couldn’t help but feel worried seeing her husband’s pale face. She was sure her husband was as healthy as a rhino when they left the house. But why now he looked sick and sweaty like this?
When Anxia tried to put the back of her hand against Richard’s forehead to check his temperature, she was sure the man’s temperature was average. But why was her husband acting strange, as if the man had seen a ghost?
“Daddy? Are you sick?” Lori also couldn’t help but worry when she saw that her father, who was usually mischievous and cornered her mother, now looked pale.
Seeing the two pairs of eyes looking at him with worry and confusion, Richard felt even more guilty. Then, suddenly he had another idea and immediately lifted Lori’s body to sit on his lap.
Lori screamed in surprise but complied and sat pretty on her father’s lap.
“Xia Xia, can you give us some privacy?”
“Excuse me?”
“Only for a short moment. Look over there.”
Anxia became even more flustered by his answer, but she finally turned her head to the side to look at the fast-paced streets.
After making sure Anxia wasn’t looking at him, Richard shifted away from his wife, then whispered to his daughter.
“Lori, I’m in great danger,” he whispered into Lori’s ear.
The daughter turned to her father and whispered into her father’s ear, who now lowered his head.
“What danger?”
Richard whispered once more into Lori’s ear. “I forgot to tell your mother that Uncle Raymond and his family are coming here.”
“Then?”
“Your mother doesn’t like Aunt Michele. Do you think your mother will be mad at me if I tell her now?”
“Don’t like what? Levels like ‘Oh, she’s just a stranger,’ or ‘Lori, don’t go near that person.’ Or like, ‘I never want to see her face again.’?”
“The last one.”
Lori’s forehead furrowed cutely; then, she looked straight at her father.
“Dad, mommy will mince you into rabbit meat.”
Richard widened his eyes at this. How could his daughter understand the meaning of the word ‘mince?’
Lori, you’re not helping at all T.T
Only Richard could hear his helpless cries.
“Lori, you’re not my sweet baby girl anymore,” Richard grumbled while pursing his lips, making Lori chuckle.
“I was just kidding, daddy.”
“...”
“Leave it to me.” continued Lori in a voice filled with confidence as she slapped her chest proudly. Then, Lori got off Richard’s lap and shifted position next to her mother while hugging Anxia’s arm.
“Lori?” Anxia was astonished by her daughter’s sudden childish attitude, but she smiled motherly when she saw a pretty little face smiling sweetly at her.
“Mommy, do you remember telling me that no human is perfect in this world? You had made mistakes, and so did Dad. Therefore, we must forgive when the person who made a mistake apologizes. Is not it?”
Richard was stunned to hear that. Did Anxia really say that to their daughter?
“I remember. Did your daddy make a mistake?” Anxia could immediately guess what his daughter wanted to say, making Richard break out in cold sweat even more.
